How to jack up a trailer when landing gear fails- Belly Dump

Was not an option that day, my driver had his tandems in a ditch blocking the entry and exit to butterball's feed mill in Alix Ar. Has any body here ever paid lost production at a mill. I know I got gouged at 750 an hour but he was 40 miles away. Next closest with a truck big enough to lift a fully loaded hopper was 100 mile away at little rock. There are times you don't have the never mind I will call else where

 

Hook a chain around the trailer's king pin and the other end of the chain around the 5th wheel, pull, then block under the front of the trailer. might lift it up some, for a start. Also a couple of air bags plumbed together and an air line filling the air bags, with a wooden block between the bags and the trailer. Be creative, think outside the box.

 

That front end loader should ease things quite a bit. Hopefully he'll help you out, never know when he might need help.

 

I get it now, so the thing was dropped with the hoppers open. I couldn't visualize the landing gear connected to the doors. Looks like kind of a funky set up. I'd think you could get the frame of the tractor under the plate, unless your tractor has squared off ends. Years ago, trucks had that angle on the back of the frame just for that reason. I suppose you could dig hole where the truck wheels would fall into, but that might bring up a whole new set of problems. The front end loader looks like your best bet.

 

if you get the front end loader, reread my earlier post , having looked at the photo, it looks like hooking a chain from corner to corner then lifting from the center with a second chain hooked to the front loader set on the side of the trailer you should be able to back under the trailer... if the gates are forced open with air pressure you may want to air up the system so that they don't try to close while lifting and tare up the landing legs.. just my two cents...

 

get somebody who hauls rgn trailers..and have load ramps..the truck will go right under the trailer and pick it up with no more damage than already done..

 

I know this is old but thanks brother! I had a moment of stupidity and thought my trailer would be okay on the landing gear....nope. started to sink but i luckily managed to get my truck back under it part way. Air bag trick will save the day.
