Two months ago the yards were overflowing with trucks so the chance would have been slim. When I turned in my truck on the 13th the yard was practically vacant as part as unassigned trucks so I'm sure there were people sent for recoveries. Just depends on the tides at any given time I suppose. As far as fly or bus if the recovery truck is relatively close they will likely throw you on the greydog to get a truck but if you're going far out there the would fly you.
My personal update is that the reason I've been so quiet lately is that I've been happily trucking along nearly stress free and truly enjoying my job again. Looking forward to payday because from a TA perspective as far as miles, it would have been a cruddy week. But between what the loads I had paid plus bonuses and accessory pay I will bring home what I would have typically pocketed in a month with TransAm.
I am thoroughly amused over today's events. Had to send to macro 90s ((our breakdown form)) for two different trailers in less than 12 hours. The first was for when I did my pretrip today one of my trailer tires had started losing chunks of tread last night and was on the verge of blowout. I could see a couple palm sized spots of cords and since we run super singles that would have just been a pain in the rear so I had road service sent to the rest area to replace the tire. The trailer I have now will go to the shop when it opens in the morning because the ABS light is on and my truck does not like the brakes on this trailer anyways. But my stress level is still far far away from homicidal rage so I've just shrugged it off. And the gal in breakdown today was super sweet. Not to mention my DM is trying her darnedest to keep me rolling with good miles! I might treat my pony to a truck wash tomorrow when I get the trailer washed out and since I know the exterior hasn't been washed since Feb just started I will have that done too! Would be nice to have a sparkling 2015 truck and trailer.![]()

From a business standpoint, having a driver, especially a new company driver, recover a truck is most likely the cheapest method of regaining their equipment and getting it back into service. Any time they have a recovery, even if there were trucks on the yard available, I think they will send a new driver out to get it....it just makes good business sense. I would say you stand a 50/50 chance of doing a recovery, travis. As honeybadger indicated, it all depends on what is going on at the time.

Made it home last night to find no parking at the truckstop I normally park at. I left it at a shopping center close by the house. Next time, I will leave it at my church parking lot. Leave Thursday for a pickup in Wilson NC going somewhere in central Nebraska for a sunday night delivery.

No issues with where I parked last night. Moved it back to Wilco Hess at 730 this morning. But then, car needed a jump. Jungho to the rescue!
