A general rule I've learned here is that the further south you work the further south the rates go. Texas, LA and FL is terrible.. the worst! Sometimes I see loads going into Florida paying $2.40 though but that's because you eat dirt coming out.

Its a trick in running Texas, and its similar to running the NE. Run in Texas until you are ready to come out. When its time to come out take short loads out until you get to your desired market. I have grossed 4700 bouncing between Oklahoma and Texas for an entire week. You may pull a lot of heavy loads, but weight is really not a major concern to me.drvrtech77 and skyviper73 Thank this.

It's all about averages. I haven't been to Florida in the 8 months I've been on choice, not saying I won't though. Getting $2.40 per mile going in, I will be willing to take a short hopper out for a $1.00-$1.25 to get me to a better area, but that's me because I know if you wait around for a $2.40 load, you may be sitting awhile. Everyone is different and as we all know, not every load pays north of $2.

I will not make bank my first week out because of the terrible rate out of Colorado, but I think I will be fine my second. Even with the low out of CO rate, the load in paid well, so as it is said, the averages are what we must play.
I'm not leaving until Tuesday early morning. Made that decision because I can make the 750 mile run in 18 hours easily. Will make delivery by noon on Wednesday. Just going to enjoy an extra unplanned day at the house! -
One thing you will notice is, any state that is a US border will generally have low rates coming out. CT, MA, FL, TX etc. like kinda painting yourself into a corner.

People want to in and out of Texas thats the reason of cheap loads. If you stay in texas and bounce between OK or some others you can make good money. But mostly people want to leave right away and get hurt of cheap rates.

lol I will sit in good areas because I know good freight will pop up most often, not in Florida. I took a load paying me $0.70 something cents going 200 miles from Florida a few weeks ago.
Only even I went to Florida was for my dads 80th birthday. -
I'm considering going the percentage lease route with Schneider. My better half and I will run team. I do have a question after seeing videos of the load board, if you fellas wouldn't mind helping a driver out.
1) I see the per mile rate, does that rate include fuel surcharge ? Or is it the rate and younger fuelmsurcharge in addition to the loaded miles?
2) how many uncompensated miles are you averaging a week?
3) Do they charge more on the lease if its a team truck?

I can't answer the Team questions, but I can answer the load board question. The rate you see on the load board is what you get. It includes your percentage of the load PLUS the fuel surcharge. No math to do. What you see is what you get. When you click on a load to see more information, you can see the rate break down. Freightwipper posted a link to his statement? I thought that was me.
