I'm sorry, I shouldn't generalize but, when you gain some experience you won't believe some of the things you will witness. My wife tells me that I get grumpy when I sit & I have sat since Thursday.

Don't worry, I'm giving you a hard time. I'm barely six months in and I'm already wanting to skin some people alive for the crap they pull. But we are to remain professionals.
Im a really giving person. Except SNI doesnt pay that much. So a hard time is about all I can afford to give. -
Nobody pays that well when you're 6 months in.

While i dont need to be assisted back over into my lane, i appreciate both gestures be it high beam or turning off headlights(even though its dangerous to turn your headlights off at freeway speeds). And i thank the driver behind me no matter their preferance. Im not staring at my side mirrors i have a road ahead of me to look at. Plus my eyes can handle 1/5th of a second flashes...Vilhiem Thanks this.

...which explains a lot.

It might be "dangerous" if you are blind, or on the road all by your lonesome...but that truck that is passing you has headlights, correct? And those headlights are illuminating the road ahead of you, correct? And since that other truck is out ahead of you, his lights are likely reaching farther than yours are anyway. So what's so "dangerous" about it?Hammer166 Thanks this.

I take it your S10 doesn't have the 4 position light switch.
My Blazer didn't have it either but when I needed to turn them off for whatever reason (like cruising looking at Christmas lights) I just did the dome override trick. -
Having my headlights off would've come in handy a few times... No I believe mine only has 3 spots, but one of them is "off." I've heard about using the parking brake, but don't know the dome override trick unless it's the one where you push that button in and out 5 times or so.

Yep. Push 4 times and it disables the auto headlamps. Push 4 times and turns them back on. My daughters HHR has the 4 position switch. So does her mom's Suzuki XL7 (essentially a stretched Chevrolet Equinox).
When GM first put the DRL/automatic headlamps in the 1999 Silverado/Sierra, it didn't have that override so they got a lot of complaints from owners that wanted some way to override the auto lamp system that didn't require setting the parking brake and restarting the vehicle (setting the parking brake after the vehicle is started won't override the DRL in night mode) -
Mine is '98. I'll re-try it when I'm back at the house, but I don't think it worked then. About all I've heard that's worked is to apply the parking brake and don't release the pedal all the way up.
