I dont think it was meant to be an insult or rude just a fact that unless its a really good market its going to be difficult for a noobie is all just like anything else first time is the most difficult and even harder as places dont know you and no rep a harder market will just add to that difficulty
-
No that wasn't smart alleck comment. That was the truth. It happens even to experienced guys. If you're trying to get out of a bad area it's just bad and there's nothing that can be done. You'kll be waiting for calls that won't ever come or if they do they're rare and insulting, or you'll be calling and be getting quoted insults.
Hopefully whoever got a good enough rate that they can either justify deadheading farther or grab whatever insult is close by and it won't hurt regardless. Now for me several weeks in a row I just sit at the house cause there's not much worth messing with. Just picking off random here and there as the opportunity presents itself along with tinkering with the truck. I know where some hot markets are but I never leave the house on a chump rate just to go to a good area cause things can change overnight. -
I cant speak for him, but it didn't sound like one. Whatsmore you should be friend him and ask him for advise or any other guys w. experience that are on here.
After you do the dispatch thing for a while, youll come back on here read that comment and understand it wasn't intended as an insult. just a truthful observation.rollin coal Thanks this. -
I know that, I've been reading RC's posts for a couple of years now. Sometimes he's a little hard to figure out. I was actually just ribbing him with my comment just to get another comment out of him. Free information.

But then again, every load RC takes is from a good market into a bad market, even on round trips.
$3/mi will not suffice for him.

I'm not as someone said a failed O/O far from it. That said I'm, 55 Y/O and I figure 10 to 15 more years left of good health. I have a very nice Bus converted to an RV that I would like to semi retire in and travel at a much slower pace. I am planning on starting a dispatch service to finance my RV adventure. I bet I, will get better rates for the trucks I dispatch then most O/O would get on their own! As with anything else I've ever done it is a matter of pride! I will be doing this from all over the country at around $50 per load. You see I, have money and want to keep it! So, this is just to be able to do what I want while I'm still able. And keep my full retirement funds right where they are! Note* This is not an ad! Just my future plans...........
tsavory Thanks this. -
A good Dispatcher has their trucks Preloaded a day/hours ahead of estimated MT call. -
I'm interested hearing about different Dispatching plans/rates so I can compare to other's. Here is what I have going on, I have my own Authority and work with the dispatcher. he also has his own authority and truck's along with other O/O ops. under his #'s or their own #'s. He has some Shipper direct customer's and pulls loads off the board, he does all the billing then deposit's my settlement directly to my acct. I pay to him a Premimum Fee, %, which is deducted out of settlement. what is considered standard for this Service ?
