Im jealous. They one and only time I was ever give some of the product I hauled was 'worm poop'. Loaded 24k of worm castings, terms as 'organic fertilizer' in 2 ton totes, and they gave me a 5 lb bag to take home and try out.

Never onions... but just about everything else.

Heck of a racket there in Chelsae.

The Russian with fhe trench coat at the gate got $25 just so I could go check in. Then the lumper fees came after I checked in with the dock manager.

I imagine its not a pencil in the Russians pocket under that coat. I scoffed the first time. I'm like wait a minute... I need to pay you just so I can walk in here and check in?!? Seriously?!?

Lumper fees and places like that where they wont let you on the dock for 'insurance reasons'.. even to make sure they load you correctly. I always loved when I had to pull seven 1200 lb pallets out because they were loaded in the wrong order. But for those reasons I'll never do reefer as an O/O. Van or Flat is all I'll ever do personally.

Onions..bleh. I havent done onions in over a year and my tarp still has an onion oder. I delivered onions to a place in Detroit once and a guy pulling reefer had a load of them too. Man it would take a month of deoderizing and wash outs to defunk that trailer of the onion smell.

There have been many occasions also where I'm not charged for parking, they take my ticket and say your all set. I see them taking money from other company drivers though.

 

Chelsea gate fees go by WHO you deliver to....We x dock at Andrews quite a bit&no fee...and as for onions....can't compare a reefer w/a skateboard....onions unless rottin are not a problem in an ice box...reefer on continuous...rear vents open good air flow....hose out&sanitize when Mt..next customer has no idea what was in box last.....
