Devil, you did not mention whether the shop agreed to to the work for the $700? Sounds too good to be true. Something is missing, I'm sure.

This is a little harsh, Devil. It's up to you to know your coverage before you write the check. But, I'm an I/C, I've looked at OOIDA a lot of times, and I just haven't seen enough value there to purchase a membership. What they offer, I can do myself, mostly. There's this new fad sweeping the nation - it's called The Internet. Have you heard about it? Excellent resource.

My uncle had a truck insured by OOIDA that was stolen and never recovered. Ins Co. Never paid it, they argued the policy didn't cover theft.

Pretty typical of someone with an axe to grind about a product, service, whatever............they sign up on here and vent......then that's all you hear out of them. OOIDA has been around a long time; is the only effective lobbying organization for truckers, and is not perfect. Are any of us?? LOL It's all we got.....so best to make the most of the good points. This whole story here reeks.....

Pretty sad that the 'only effective lobbying organization for truckers' has evolved from a grass roots vehicle with a purpose based upon principle to the mega money-mint operation that it is today.
Seems that every time three or more guys get together, money and profits eventually become the driving force of all.
Checks and balances will always be the great equalizer; provided that all those balances are kept in check.
    Did I spell 'competition' correctly?
So the time is ripe, along with OOIDA, for another lobbying organization to get the momentum going again.
    Let's roll....

I've got OOIDA, never an issue... There are different coverages, and you have to elect each one individually... Sounds like he wants a brand new hood, and the adjuster says it can be repaired... Also, late last year, OOIDA required all policy holders to take pictures of truck and trailer from all angles and put them on file... Whose to say he's not blowing smoke to get a new hood before the pictures get submitted??

Yeah a 4 wheeler cut me off a few years ago and I tried to get a new hood. No deal. He said the cracks in the gel goat were pre existing (and he was right). Got paid for a stainless bumper and a grill and and agreement that they would replace CAC and AC condenser if they failed a test.
