Even the OP's "case in point" is one (of many) that substantiates this "growing/changing" trend. -
That doesn't sound legal what if your wife doesn't have a job? how about the kids?.... I would call a lawyer , if this company has over 50 employees by law they have to provide health care for the whole family at affordable cost!!!!! As mandated by Obama, if it's not affordable Obama care IS affordable, I pay $292 a month for a family of 4, there are laws in place that require this

They are basically forcing employed husbands and employed wives to be covered separately (if each is working at different employers, and each employer offers health insurance), This causes typically higher premium payments (in total), 2 separate deductibles, and no discounted "all-inclusive" family coverage.truckencrazy, 77smartin, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
My wife's employer said the same thing though my employer hasn't... yet.

I think, it's none of your company's business, if your wife works or not.
Does the company offer family benefits, or not.
Additionally. I think it's none of the company's business. If your wife has insurance available at her job or not.
Its a hel of a thing. But one must be careful answering questions from employers. -
