Cons: Sleeping in a moving truck on a rough road
Trusting another driver not to kill you in your sleep
I wouldn't want to be locked up in a 10x10 box with my wife 24/7
    Pros: Supposedly more money

    Pro(s)

    Companionship/someone to talk to

Sharing responsibility in picking up and delivering the load.

Sharing the responsibility in getting the truck PM'd and maybe washed, inside and out

Someone you can (hopefully) depend on to help you back into tight areas.

Probably more pro(s), but that's about all I have for now

    Con(s)

Someone who thinks he is the boss of you

Someone who will rat you out in a heartbeat, if you damage the truck

Someone who actually may try to kill you if you 2 start having arguments.

Someone who may not bathe on a regular basis, and has skid marks in his shorts that the smell alone will knock you out.

Someone who may want to stop at EVERY truck stop to browse the truckers store

Someone who may actually try to have sex with you and if you "swing that way", well you may just like it

Someone who may smoke dope, take drugs, and GET YOU ARRESTED AS WELL

Someone who may be a smoker of cigs or a pipe or a cigar, and WILL NOT STOP all because you don't smoke

That's about as many Con(s) I can come up with.

Many, many years ago, when I HAD TO team up, for training purposes, we stopped at the then Union 76 In Gary, IN.

I was in the men's room. A co-driver came in all bloody. Had some, yes SOME stab wounds in his arm. Blood all over the place.

Was yelling out that his co-driver tried to kill him.

Cops came, arrested that would be killer trucker.

    You decide.

Unless it IS a family member like, Husband/wife, or brother/brother, father/son, mother/daughter, or cousin/cousin, etc, etc, I'd nary "trust" any co-driver more than I can spit in his face, and out run him.

Pros: (Would only do it with my wife): no need for home time, your at home, so you can take time off anywhere,No need to keep a house=fewer bills, not much need to find a parking spot.. Make more money.. Most of the complaints solos have are cured by teaming with wife, plus your the golden goose to any company that runs teams ..if ya have a good wife and your not out trying to screw every lot lizard in the country or have 4 wives and 3 girlfriends spread around lol

Con: sleeping in a moving truck.. But they rock me to sleep like a baby :) so not an issue for me ..My wife drives as good as me so trust isn't an issue, if its my time die it don't matter I ain't skeered. When GOD wants me it will be my time period, don't matter what I'm doing ..rather die doing something I want to do than being a scardy cat..

Solo: Cons..Always wanting to go home always complaining they don't get home .. Stuck in a truck stop 12 hrs a day after spending hrs looking for a spot .. make short runs that are the leftovers from the teams .. make less money ..there's a million of them.

Thank you for your comments #1) Im female and not very experienced driver, the potential team driver Im trying to convince to team up with me is very experienced.
We're not husband and wife (or even in a relationship) so we may want to take time off for our families.
What can I tell this "seasoned" driver that will convince him to try team driving with me?

There's the rub.. you'll want to take off at one time, he'll want to another.. I take it one or neither of you is interested in a relationship,so your odds of it lasting very long are slim.. IMHO..

So I don't think you will convince him differently..If he has been around he knows that too, plus he would lose all his privacy to a woman he ain't shaggin..

Plus the money is split. not all going to into 1 household.. not really worth it to most ppl ..

Do you lack the confidence to go it alone? If you feel you must team, you'd have a better chance with another female.

I teamed for about a year and really didn't like it. Made a little more money but not enough to make it worth doing. Trying to sleep when the other guy was driving was the worst problem for me. He also liked to stop at all ( or most of) the truck stops. It just wasn't for me but everybody is different.
