New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition)

    After working in the convenience store business for 6+ years and always wanting to be a trucker I've finally put my app into prime and got an email back to call a recruiter back tomorrow. My uncle's have drove all their lives and that's what made want to become one as well.. Just never took that leap.

    Im tentatively scheduled the 9th as well. Just have to send in some w2's and wait to be officially accepted.

    Good luck to you guys. First day patientence is a virtue. You do all of waiting. Get your permit before showing up will put you ahead of the curve. Also the dog is a true yes especially if a storm system is moving through. Also be honest on the app and disclose everything. Good luck guys.

    Just want to post some numbers for no particular reason other than to provide some factual information based on one's experience. My pay check for my 2nd week as a solo driver is for 3250 miles and grosses $1,532.

    Now a couple things. I am a flatbedder so there's a few tarp pays calculated into there. Also though, I make 3 CPM less than a reefer driver with a lightweight bonus.

    The stars did have to align for me to do this because it does truly cover a 7 day span rather than including some held over trip from the week before, and it is difficult for drivers of any experience level to get dispatched 3250 miles over 7 days.

    I'm also really lucky because it sure seems like I have a really awesome dispatcher.

    I guess my only point is that IF you can survive the four months or whatever of PSD/TNT, there is a very good job to be had here as a first year company driver. Right now it seems to me like there's no reason I can't do 45-55k this year. Seems like the miles are plentiful if you can run right, and everyone who does runs their nuts off.

    McCauly's post has inspired me to post what I do out here in Shelbyville on the dedicated Walmart account. I am a company driver. The images are screen caps from my settlements. The first number is the number of miles, the second is the stop pay, third mileage pay and I figure the rest is self explanatory. These are my last four full weeks out (I skipped the week I went home).

    These are pretty typical weeks for me. No wild swings up or down, just fairly steady. The first two caps include the last two weeks where I had a shutdown day each due to inclement weather.

    That looks very similar to what I was making at the Olney location. My take home would usually she around $1100. But I live in Washington state where we have no income taxes :) so my take home is usually higher then most.

    Thanks fof the numbers. Running a skateboard you kinda need to run. Not too out of control. The bigger part is the age old thing of trying to keep hours to where it is you want to end up. Which all goes back to planning a good trip. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up out there.
