Ladies and gentleman, this has to be the stupidest thing I have read all day.KW Cajun, MJ1657, truckerlife74 and 4 others Thank this.
-
Why would he want to mess up the driver dac you sound like a Freaking idiot for even suggesting that because the driver decided to better himself. Maybe he should take issue with the company but even he said the driver and him are on good termsKW Cajun Thanks this.
-
I wouldn't like the company I'm leased to taking my driver either. I don't blame the driver for bettering himself at all. The non compete clause.

At .40 CPM, no health insurance, 2,500 to 3,000 miles per week, and paid by 1099 your driver could make more working for Heartland, Schneider, Interstate, or any one of two dozen different carriers.
Most intelligent people will remove the middle man where possible. You will have the likelihood of a "dispatcher stealing your driver" if your driver recognizes you're a middle man that can easily be cut out. -
No he cant, 2 big violations on his record!
-
Well there's the answer right there..also if he's your driver..as in EMPLOYEE..where you told him what to do.I wouldn't be telling others about you 1099 ing the guy...you just might talk to an accountant about that before the IRS does..because he is not an independent contractor..
-
Ah. You hired him because you figured that you could just stiff him and he wouldn't be able to do better. Now you're complaining because he was able to do just that. The internets, lol.
Maybe the next guy/gal you hire should have an even worse driving record. That would further limit their options and increase their likelihood of sticking around.cnsper Thanks this. -
Now the rest of the story comes out.... You thought you had a captive employee and now are upset about someone letting him out of the dungeon. You have now apparently found another captive that you can underpay for a while because of your greed. Yep your greed and underpaying the driver by not paying the employer portion of the employment taxes and putting his family at risk by not covering him with workmans comp insurance.
Yeah you are a great truck owner. Let us know when you are desperate to sell your truck, maybe someone here will need one. The big boys are starting drivers at more than you are paying AND they are paying their portion of the taxes along with workmans comp. -
As for finding someone else to only take 12%... Probably never happen
