Vienna, VA, is testing the Rumbler, a device that uses an amplifier and two subwoofers along with police car sirens. The lower-pitched sound should cut through any traffic din and get the attention of otherwise soundproofed motorists or pedestrians. The device even creates a small vibration inside a car. The device is being tested by about 200 police agencies, mostly on the east coast.

This info was published in the Washington Post in early May. The link does not work for me, but the address came up as though my computer is blocking their cookies.
