Sorry, But this guys remarks are a total insult to drivers...
Spouting how he could care less if the driver succeeds, they will just replace them!
The drivers are a dime a dozen mentality has always got under my skin....I had a boss years ago say that to my face!
I flipped him a quarter and told him to go get 2 1/2 dozen.....handed him the keys to the truck.
They want professional drivers that undertake HUGE responsibility on a daily basis for both the driver and the company and treat them like children...
This is the direction this industry has been going for years and us older guys see it!
MR Dispatcher should be banned as a troll...
I think he just signed up to get crap started....ethos, VeganTrucker, jldilley and 2 others Thank this. -
I know some hard working farm hands with the best work ethic one could ask for. I don't know any who would take to kindly to a camera watching them. I'm sure it would be in multiple pieces by the end of the first hour. My suggestion would be if you have good drivers you value, don't drive them off with your corporate silliness and cameras.
Interplanet Janet and ethos Thank this. -
If you have an in cab camera, try just wearing only a pair of thong underwear, cowboy boots on the wrong feet and a cowboy hat sideways. No shirt, pants etc. Maybe it will make the guy monitoring the truck camera so repulsed that he will take your truck off of his watch list.lol Seriously though....I blurt out some pretty vulgar remarks when I drive. Like when the airhead in a car pulls out in front of you while you are running 65-68 mph and he pulls out of a side street in front of me with not one vehicle behind me for miles then he goes 150 yards and makes me come to a complete stop while he turns left. then I get to go through all the gears again to get up to speed. sorry mister camera monitor, but that makes me cuss and moan momentarily. I've been driving a truck for 31 years accident and violation free. I have some one million mile safe driving awards. And I bet 2/3 of those miles were done during cursing about the other vehicles around me. I don't see me being able to break that habit very easily. but I'm willing to try. Now I understand why my Dad kept trying to get me to get more education and become a dentist or doctor when I was younger. Sorry for the long response, but I could go on and on.
Ranger309 Thanks this. -
Plan on keeping it that way with 20 or 30 drivers coming in every Monday... ... BTW what's the name of you company?
....as for the cameras? Keep em!!!! .... Just let us know the name of your outfit, that way we can help out with protecting your equipment by making sure it stays in the yard all day -
Hmmm, glad I've never been a company driver, I don't think I could convince myself to swallow the bilge water spewing from this so called Dispatcher!. My hats off to you drivers that will tolerate the companies B.S.!, that do this kind of garbage.

i was a company driver
the worst six months of my careerRanger309 Thanks this. -
I worked for an owner operator for 7 years that was leased to a petroleum carrier. He treated us well. Took the trucks home with us every day and pretty much didn't care what we used them for in the off time. He knew we took care of them well. If we needed time off we got it, even if it was a whole week granted we might not get paid if we weren't eligible for a vacation week. You would get your load assignments at 6pm for the following day and unless there way a delivery time say on an asphalt load in the summer you pretty much did them when you wanted. This man understood the concept of keeping your employees happy and how to retain them.
