What are the best companies to work for as a new driver? I will be graduating trucking school in a month with hazmat and tankers endorsement. I want to know the best and highest paying companies I should apply to. Thanks for your input.

Do you live in California and if so which city are you near.

We need to know the hiring area you live in.

Well what do you want to pull? Where do you want to run? Where do you live? Can't help much if we don't know some info.

I was (and still am) happy with May Trucking as a starter company.

Remember there are other things to look at besides pay. Idle policy, main routes, maintenance etc. Trust me these things matter a great deal. It's fun and exciting to see the country at first but it gets old. The only place I get excited to see is I-30 exit 3 because then I'm only .9 miles from the house.

    Coast-to-coast:

Decker Truck Line - reefer division
    Pride Transport
    Trimac Transportation
    Freymiller
    Halvor Lines
    Safer Transportation
    Navajo Express

Don't just look at cents-per-mile; that doesn't mean much if the miles aren't there. Also look at acessorial pays, such as layover, stop, detention, breakdown, etc. Since you want coast-to-coast running then look at the equipment you'll be driving and the ammenities such as inverters, APU's, XM radio. Look at it this way; your first job probably won't be the one you retire from so don't be afraid to change jobs in 12 months. By then you'll have a year experience and 100's more jobs will be open to you.
Submit several applications & start now; don't wait until graduation.
