The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has updated the Safety Measurement System’s spreadsheet for serious violations. Five new serious violations took effect Feb. 1, 2015.
Serious violations are those considered severe enough to warrant immediate action regardless of the motor carrier’s safety history. Violations that indicate a breakdown in safety management control can also be considered serious. The five new serious violations are:

    • 172.704(a)(4): Failing to provide security awareness training, Hazardous Materials Compliance
    • 172.704(a)(5): Failing to provide in-depth security awareness training, Hazardous Materials Compliance
    • 383.37(c): Knowingly allowing, requiring, permitting or authorizing an employee with more than one commercial driver’s license to operate a commercial motor vehicle, Driver Fitness
    • 395.3(a)(3)(i): Requiring or permitting a property-carrying commercial motor vehicle driver to drive more than 11 hours, Hours-of-Service Compliance
    • 395.3(a)(3)(ii): Requiring or permitting a property-carrying commercial vehicle driver to drive if more than eight hours have passed since the end of the driver’s last off-duty or sleeper-berth period of at least 30 minutes, Hours-of-Service Compliance
When a carrier is cited with a serious violation, the SMS displays a violation in that carrier’s investigation results for that Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category for 12 months following the completion of the investigation. With the latest update, motor carrier citations involving the five new violations will be reflected in the March SMS data release.

Today's topic of teenage discussion was "Things that are Disgusting". It began with dogs that roll in smelly things outside, (which is what the male dog did this morning) and went all the way to seahorses giving birth. I certainly got an education on the workings of the teenage mind ......it's a scary thing!:biggrin_25521:

It was 72 here in southwest Missouri today ....absolutely beautiful! I am hopeful that we have turned the corner with the weather. We do have some rain on the way but temps should stay in the 60's. I can handle it :biggrin_25519:

jaso, when will you be doing your move? I know you can't wait to get your wife and all of the fur-babies moved into your new home.
honeybadger, where are you? Out of all of the winter weather? Did you get the tv and direct tv put in your truck yet?

Was anyone else in east Texas this week? If you were, did you have any trouble with your gps and other satellite systems? The King totally lost all communications for 2 days while in Texas. It started when he crossed the Texas/Louisianna state line and continued through all of his drops in Texas until he got into the western part of the state.
