I do the majority of my driving at night yet my employer insists on buying the cheapest replacement bulbs they can find. my visibility is terrible especially in poor weather conditions. can anyone recommend a replace bulb that will serve me better?

I hear the Sylvania brand are bright, but they do not last very long?
Costly too.
Buy what you need, and give them the receipt.

funny how oems can charge 150k for a truck with headlites that arnt worth a tinkers dam ... every volvo vnl iv had been the same way as your 387 .

I've tried Sylvania, but only the clear and it didn't seem to make a difference. I've made sure my lenses were clean and my headlights properly adjusted. I even went to the eye doctor to make sure it just wasn't my vision. I wasn't sure if the blue or yellow tint offered better visibility because my company wouldn't drop the extra coin for premium bulbs. I've just recently got them to agree to drop a little extra money on them but it may be my only shot to prove my point to them

My eye specialist had told me years ago, the yellow or blue light makes no difference in our viewing, over clear bulbs.
As a matter of fact, please refer to the "green book" regarding lights. Clear or white for headlights, amber for front lights (blinker, clearance), red for rear lights (amber for turn signals). Those truckers with say, green clearance lights? Can be written up for improper light colorings. -
yeah. bzinger its funny how that works. I wish I could say this has been the only problem I've had with this truck, but sadly I can't.

I was aware of the possible violation for running with colored lights. I've just noticed a lot of drivers using the tinted headlamp and didn't know if it was effective or just for looks. thanks for the advice

The 'blue' bulbs with dot ratings qualify as white, under the law. If you read the label (or maybe it's on the insert,) on any of the name brand "blue" bulbs you'll see the language stating so.

Goes to show you, that even the expensive brands can be trash. If you have a "company spec'd truck", then you have a generic Pete. If you however were to have an "o/o spec'd truck", you might have a better built one at that. The assembly line is just that for "company truck spec's".
The o/o truck is built partly on the line, then diverted to another area for the accessories to be installed. No assembly line can do in quick time, what the off line people can do. -
And I'm not sure which bulb those use, but if you buy the higher wattage 'off-road' bulbs, it may help. Always the first thing I've done on motorcycles, replaced the 35/55 with a 55/100.
