Transam company driver ? What's that ?
-
Yes as a company driver. I wanted to be a flat bedder but more I thought about it less I want to do it.
-
they don't really cater to company drivers...they are more a lease operation...
-
that isnt true at all
they dont cater to anyone with 1000 drivers company or lease
they provide trucks to new drivers looking to get experience
they shouldnt lease to any new drivers
that have no idea how to do what the business requires
NO NEW DRIVER
knows how to do their job
most fail and move on
if you dont believe me come back in 2 years when your really a driver
and tell me I am wrongjungHo, gntorres61, passport220 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am a company driver and have been for 10 months now. TransAm runs 36 states and California too. Avg haul over 1000 miles. Lease drivers may get the longer hauls but have to prove themselves to be reliable. We haul a lot of meat which is a good thing. During the winter months we were steady while dry van and flatbed might have tanked a bit. If and when the economy tanks again (and it will) people still gotta eat. The biggest company driver benefit is you don't have a weekly lease payment of 600 a week plus the other incidentals. I have enjoyed my time here and TransAm has treated me well and have been patient with me as I have dinged some trailers while learning to drive the rigs. Hope this helps.

In Russellville Arkansas at the Peelot. Bumping my 70. Left Sayre Ok Flying J at 0630. Just wasnt feeling it today. Might have made it to Little Rock, but wasn't chancing it. Felt sleepy all day. Pulled over at the J in Checotah OK for a two hour nap. Helped a little but not a lot. Will leave at 3am tomorrow and try to make Knoxville and do the rest in the wee hours of Monday in route to Ingles in Black Mountain NC, Mays in Taylorville, and Restaurant Depot in Charlotte.

If you go Trans Am go company, learn on their dime not yours. The trainers in the yard get a bonus for everyone who signs the lease therefor you can't trust what they say. They will tell you during training that lease drivers make more and that this job is easy. Both are lies. This job is not easy and new drivers who lease only make more in the 1st 2 checks and then reality hits, all the hidden costs they don't tell you about. If you do choose Trans Am stay strong about being a company driver cause there will be a buzz back in the hotel with anyone you make friends with and they will be talking about how easy this job is and keep this in mind they have never delivered a load so how do they know how easy or hard this job is. Trans Am is good enough to get your experience in and move on to a better company. I used to train for them and have seen them do some dirty tricks to get new guys to sign. Good luck and stay strong.jungHo, HometimeQueen and passport220 Thank this.
