Don't worry, several companies will hire you.
Put your location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.

I'm gettin' slow; finally sunk in you're on the East Coast by your screen name. Anyway, best wishes in your new career.

So I ended up going with Carolina Cargo because it seems no one else will touch me. I've heard all the stories about them but I just want to know if I get a years experience can I land a gig somewhere else? I read somewhere that Carolinas CSA score was so low that a lot of companies won't hire drivers who worked for them. Any truth to this?

You'll find work after Carolina Cargo if you keep a clean driving record.
Most good companies want drivers with coast-to-coast experience driving in all weather/all terrain and Carolina Cargo has that.
The key to success in your situation is not get become frustrated and quit on impluse. After a year you can go about anywhere. One trainer at Carolina Cargo has been with them 15 years so it can't be all bad.

    Best wishes.

thanks again for the positive push forward. Any advice on necessities to take on the road and what I need to bring to orientation?

Work gloves - cheap ones; I used those at Walmart, a package of 5 pairs or so.

If money is tight, take some Ramen Noodles and instant coffee and travel coffee mug. Microwave use is free at truck stops and the hotel. This will help until your first paycheck.

Use a flexible duffle bag for your stuff, not a hard suitcase because the suitcase is hard to store.

Sleeping bag and pillow because the trainer and you won't want to use the same sheets, etc. When you're driving you can roll up the sleeping bag & pillow and stow it.

Get ready; you will see California and Pacific Northwest back to back. That's what Carolina Cargo does; West Coast turnarounds. Many of their loads are frozen chickens to the West Coast and produce or other perishable foods back to the East Coast.

I like it out West. I'm from Tennessee but moved to Las Vegas a couple years ago; learned the West is what I prefer from my travels as a long haul trucker.

Probably hold off on the travel mug until you get to orientation to make sure you get one that will fit into the trucks cup holder.
