My wife and I spend an average of $2 per meal. That is 3 squares per day. Once each 8 days we stop and grocery shop. She cooks in the truck.

No eating junk food here. And we never have to layover in truck stops except to fuel and shower.

Canned goods and some meats kept in fridge go a very long ways. The only way to make money out here is to save the money you make. That's done by not eating junk in truck stops.

Yeah don't lose track of your imagination. Pate de foie gras, prawn ####tail, wild caught Sockeye Salmon, cajun style, fresh lobster salad. And how about a nice Piece of New York strip steak, cooked on the grill. The world is your oyster.
Yep and you can have those too on the truck. Do you know how to shuck?
Avocado with sliced tomato with vinaigrette and parmesan. The list goes on.
Well I would go for a nice glass of Chateau Margaux but alas, Those miserable people at the DOT would get all jealous so I would have to settle for Perrier water.
With all the yummy foods out there, why would anyone eat all that McDonalds/Tacky Bell rubbish?
Processed foods plus sugar is slowly killing many of us. Take charge of your own menu.
You just have to make a plan of where to shop and have the right gear on board to cook.
It could take time though. Took me awhile to figure out what I needed to do.
You can eat just as well on the truck as you do at home.
Yes and you will save a ton of $$$
Just been to a Costco in the Detroit area, Replenished my fresh fruit stock I have in the fridge.
You just can't beat fresh raspberries/strawberries, pineapple, blueberries. Avocados are good right now. Oranges too.
Walmart/Sams/Costco/Meijer/Publix/Wegmans/Safeway/HEB/Wholefoods etc etc Plenty of options to shop and live like a king on the good old chariot.
No excuses but it takes motivation and desire to be healthy.
The good news is that if you do this and get serious all those ailments you once had will vanish and no need to be a slave to the doc and prescription drugs.

    $25-30 a day *brain explodes*

    How?

    ^
Answer = be a tightwad/mentally judge yourself and detest spending on subpar food cooked by others.

Cheech and chong lived on 80 cents a day together when they toured. So can you. There's a pep talk for ya.

Back in November I rescued a broke down truck and took it to the yard, 2200 miles. I had nothing in the truck and I can tell you that $25 to $30 a day was no problem at all to blow through. $2+ just to start the morning with a cup of half arse coffee and the list goes on. I get $50 cash advance each time I fuel till I build up $500 in "truck" money then only replenish it as needed. During that trip I was taking the $50 advance every day and by the next morning I was lucky of there was a $20 left over.

It is easy to burn through money on the road, but it takes discipline to control spending on the road and it can be tough for some people to get used to.

I am a cheap SOB. I would have hit Walmart and bought a cheap cooler before spending $30 a day. Even living on Subway would be doable for a week.

Dr Fandango, I can't even pronounce half the words in your post but I would try it if you ever want to cook for me.

Wife cooks and puts food in containers at home. I just have to warm them up. I am home every weekend though. Along with working out, I am actually losing weight being on the road
