I'll see you guys in April. Took my roadtest and had my interview with HR and safety and even got to hang out on the yard for about two hours with the guys in training. It's a lot less intimidating when you're up close to it. I'm pretty pumped. How's it going for the rest of you guys?>

Sledge, I'm wondering if you had seen me on the yard too cause we were the last class training on the yard. Our last day of training on the yard was last Friday. I'm now with a trainer doing local work. Any questions or need any additional info, feel free to message me. ....Jeff

I'm guessing you were on the road the day I was down there. I met Anthony and Will and two other dudes who's names I didn't get. It definitely seems like it will be a constant learning curve, just like my current job (flatbedding) and what I did in the army (hauled tanks and ####) so hopefully I'm good in terms of picking up stuff. It seems like he will let you get yourself into trouble to help you figure out ways to get out of it or prevent it from happening in the first place. One thing I can say is, that little white saturn is a ####### piece!

Were you by chance in the peterbilt that had the broken ramps that came down from Princeton? Edit: Judging by your name I'm thinking that wasn't you. My only REAL question that I'm honestly concerned about is, am I going to be safe at night when I go to sleep? I've noticed they're not in the friendliest part of Jacksonville.

Lmbo @ the bad area of jacksonville but believe it or not, I've asked the same thing and if it wasn't for all of the security and fences around the entire facility, I'd feel worried as well. And of you've met Will, then you'd had to have met me (my name is Jeff). Anthony split us into groups of 2 because there were 4 of us in training so he let 2 of us go on the road different days with trainers to see how things are in the car hauling industry and he'd (Anthony) would keep 2 of us while the other 2 were out and I've always been partnered up with Will. I'm about 6'4 and light skinned (African American). Will and I were on the yard together mon, weds, and Fri of last week so you'd had to meet us both. Tues and Thurs of last week, we both were with trainers on the road. But if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.....Jeff aka Country4Life

Hell yeah dude! I was the guy with the tattoos who came out last Monday from Georgia. I thought you said your name was something else that's why Jeff didn't ring a bell to me. I'm just looking forward to get going. Is it everything you've expected it to be so far as far as the level of training and everything?

I guess it's a small world after all!!! Lol, but to answer your question, I've been blown away with the level of training I've gotten thus far. The trainers I've met have been top notch guys and they truly want you to learn everything and how everything works. As far as to where my trainer and I run, we usually stay in the state of Florida because my trainer has to stay close to Jacksonville because of his ill wife (I pray she gets better). Friday wraps up the week and I drive home on the weekends once we finish up with our last run. From what I was told, Anthony USUALLY puts you with a trainer with a similar truck to the one you'd be assigned but that wasn't my case because I was supposed to get a screw truck (I call it "getting screwed") after training but my trainer has a 2012 peterbilt easy loader. All I would really tell a new Comer to the industry (including myself) is to just try and sponge everything they throw your way because it definitely helps to know what they are going to teach you. The thing that I love the most about being in the car hauling industry is that there are NO two days ever alike. Each day is different and you are constantly learning something new everyday. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to know that I didn't hit on.

    Yeah, what ^he said!!! :biggrin_2559:

While confidence is good (we say that good carhaulers are egotistical ######## in one carhaul group, cause it fits,) I think you going to find the learning curve is a tad steeper than you're expecting. Even the guys it comes easiest to, with very high-level spatial skills, are barely proficient at 6 weeks. At 12 weeks, I can usually see the curve really flattening out, and the light bulbs lighting up, and the time-wasting hair-brained ideas slacking off. That's when it's fun to send someone who's been on new cars out on mixed used load to remind them they have a ways to go, yet!

    Good luck to ya!

Thanks bud. Jeff, did you get paid for orientation week? And are they working on the weekends or is it a monday-friday thing? I'm wondering if they'll let you come in on the weekends or not if it is.
