While navigating downtown LA can be a challenge..NYC is much tighter and has more people than downtown LA does..anyday....each has their own issues.

Yeah, but at least in the Northeast you can get someone on the radio, I have driven the length and breadth of Cali, and never had so much as a squeak back.

I have asked for help in the N.E. and had a friendly voice come back 5X5 and ask if I could see the blinking lights and if so,,, Follow Me, I'll take ya right there, not so much on the Left coast.

Thats what I don't get about people saying we are rude and nasty! I've helped a ton of drivers out and so have so many others, yet we get labeled the worst. Meanwhile in the south, it's now a thing to dim your lights to let someone over and not only do they not acknowledge you, they don't even use a ####### turn signal. I think someone got something mixed up here......

Stay off the parkways and stick with the expressways, besides that take it slow and get in early and get out after rush hour. I rather go to NYC than up state NY any day of the year.

Yeah Joe, I don't get it either, of course you and I are from the Lehigh Valley, so maybe it's a "homeboy" thing? On the flip side I have been asked for routes and directions around N.J. and P.A. and always helped if I could, made me feel good that I could help someone out.

Of course there is a LOT about trucking now a days that I guess I don't get?

years ago i had a glass going into brooklyn down by the coke a cola plant and i knew the area pretty well but stopped at the lombardi called him for directions anyway .
got this asian guy on the fone who told me to wait there and we will escort you in and wanted to know what kind of food i like ...bout an hour later the asian mafia shows up in 2 black lincoln towncars and escorted me rite to their plant ...and they didnt take crap from anyone that tried to disrupt our journey .
when we arrived and parked a meal of corned beef just for me was waiting in the in the break room while they unloaded my trailer .

I've found NE drivers to be very polite and patient compared to other parts of the country. The problem is that most of the roads are congested and not built for 70' rigs.....truck stops and places to pull off are always crowded or nonexistent.....and most of the places we have to deliver are very hard to get in and out of. Sure, I wouldn't mind running around seeing the sights in Manhattan or wherever in a car, but I don't see how they can find drivers to work there. I think they should have transfer stations in Penn and Jersey like they do in Laredo....let them deliver their own stuff.

if ya guys ever get layed over there theres a nice motel over in little ferry nj with lotsa truck parking that i used to stay at alot when i had more pick ups than i could get done in a day (capri moter inn bout 70 bucks a nite ) from the gwb just stay west on rt 46 and stay in the rite lane and rite after ya cross the hackensack river ya come into a traffic circle and take your first rite then another quik rite ..then another quik rite into the motel and follow the signs around the building .
from the njtp take 46 west .
in the morn when ya leave just hit 46 east and it will take ya rite to the gwb or to the njtp south ...80 west go left outa the motel to the lite and go rite and follow the signs to 80 .
good food and pizza all around there and beer store across the street in h mart ...bus service into the city from the motel .
