Last summer out there I saw a sign that read,. "Cabins for rent,.. $1200 month".
The sign was on a 10x12 office trailer. I thought that was the office you go in to see about the cabins for rent. No,.. they were calling that office trailer a cabin. LOL!
I needed an air leak fixed. I went to a building that had a sign that said truck/trailer repair. Drove up and all you saw was travel trailers all around the yard. Then inside the main building was more travel trailers. I asked about getting my air leak fixed,.. they said oh he doesnt do truck repairs anymore. I guess not,.. $500 - $800 month rent from each of those trailers,.. he's got it made.

What road is it, 85 I think towards Dickinson where that Abe Lincoln head is at, I saw a sign for $800 month rent and was like, well it would be better than sharing space, even though my roomates were cool, I value my privacy. Called them up, and they said "oh yeah, the $800 is for a spot to park your your RV or Trailer" hung up and just kept my roomates LOL -
The Lincoln bust is on 85 up by Alexander I believe, the Teddy Roosevelt bust is on 85/23 in Watford.

Rent is coming down but not as fast as the wages
i have trucks based out of nd and it's never been a place to get rich like they say my guys have housing
and avrage about 2000.00 a week if you can do half that at home yours still better off in my opinion
we expect to be ok with the low oil prices but it's tough and only going to get worse
but to stay on track their are hundreds of new empty apartments so housing will deff be going down
but again not as fast as my rates and as they drop so do my drivers wagesHeWhoMustNotBeNamed and pathfinder1361 Thank this. -
There are plenty of companies that supply housing for free, at a low cost (200 to 500) a month or provide a housing allowance if you have a camper you live in. I haul crude up here in ND and make at least 2k a week. My last 2 week check was gross over 4700 and that is with free housing. After deductions and taxes I netted 3580 for the last 2 weeks. I am just a company driver, not a lease or O/O. I also have less than 2 years experience. When I started up here I was hired on with just 1 year experience.
Even if I had to pay for rent it is still way more than I have made anywhere else. If you have a couple where both the husband and wife are making this kind of money then a 2500 or even a 3k apt is not that huge of an expense out of the budget. -

Nah we are not hiring right now. Pretty slow on oil, just a few trucks running each day and night shift. More water than anything right now, pro water, freshwater, ground water and service work for rigs. Hopefully it will pick up though, I heard there was work yesterday but I'm home on vacation time right now and will be back in a week.
I still see a lot of MBI, Prarie, Bridger trucks out of the Newtown Rail for oil. I heard all 3 of those companies are hiring.
I do not know of any that are hiring recent CDL grads and to be honest I hope they arent. Honestly this area is not the first job that you want to do as a driver. Get a bit of experience driving first, you don't want to be "that guy" who stalls out on a hill and has to chain up on a hill while trucks pile up on you, 20 or 30 trucks backed up and pissed off because you are blocking a lease road with no other way out. Its a lot different hauling 240bbls of oil on ###### lease roads in terrible weather than hauling 80k OTR.
Just my take but I'm sure other people will have different opinions. Im sure there are some out there but most require a year or two recent experience OTR or some oilfield experience elsewhere first. -

Are there still many jobs available up there with a rotational schedule? Like work 3 weeks then take 7-10 days home time?

Most companies I have talked with want a stay a lot longer than 3 weeks. They want 2 months or more where I work but most of the workers here work a lot longer than that at a time. I have been doing two months on and a week off.
I've heard of a few companies paying for the employees flight home but I'm not sure what companies do that. None that I have talked to but the guy who was next to me on the flight down to Texas said his flight was paid for. I think he was on a flowback crew though, not a driver.
