They need to add a provision that makes it illegal to deny a driver the use of restroom facilities. It doesn't happen to me a lot but the fact that it has happened at least once, much less a handful of times, is absurd. To deny us the basic human rights to relieve ourselves, like we are sub-human and not worthy of their golden toilets is preposterous.
UKJ Thanks this. -
If you ask a driver if he has enough hours (of service) left to deliver your load and he says no, and you refuse him the load and ask his company to send another driver, that could be considered coercion,
-
The bottom line is that in the future we can legally tell a shipper that "i'll get it there when i darn well please !"
UKJ Thanks this. -
that was a quote from one of the conference attendees, the rule is saying it would be coercion if they let you take it because you would have to go over hours of service to make it. This sounds pretty terrible for everyone except the government who can now slap the shippers with an 11k fine for every logbook violation.
-
Yeah I hope a professional driver like you doesn't actually believe that.
-
This is how I think it will end up working as well. Besides, think about it. Customers will actually be reviewing your logs, who wants that?
-
Do you or anyone else have a link to the actual proposed law? I'll see if I can find it as well. Would make it easier for us discuss if we can see what's actually all in there and how it's worded.
-
Aren't E-logs mandatory by 2017? I don't care if they see the logs, just pay me for wasted time and get me loaded/unloaded ASAP.zentrucking and Grumppy Thank this.

This is a MAJOR game changer for the entire industry. And it is going to change how we do things. Now we sit back and see how the carriers react.
