I have to agree with chinatown, keep your mouth shut, serious incidents is a different game. still limit the answers. tell on yourself for petty crap no way or others no way.. anyone get hurt, if no, not my problem, mouth shut.
Clarify: nothing is black and white definitive. It's a fine line.
so I had a bad hair year

A fence is one thing. Dragging your trailer over someone's car is another. Not to mention the fact the idiot in the Swift truck getting away with stuff like that.Shaggy Thanks this.

edited the above post. It's a fine line, worth my time to get involved?. What can I say? My failure to give a crap is borderline and murphy is funny... I'm sick like that

Did the police ever get called for the fire hydrant? Or any of these? If not then they weren't reported to the DOT. Do you have any moving violations? It sounds to me like you definitely need some additional training but I wouldn't give up the ghost yet. You didn't roll the truck or rear-end anyone, so someone might be willing to take a chance with you.

You're talking about swift again aren't you?

Im not sure what I'd do if I saw someone cause damage like you all are talking about. On the one hand, the car is private property and that person's insurance may not pay to have it fixed. That'd suck. On the other hand, nobody was hurt.
Now, a Walmart fence? ...the fact that it's a Walmart aside...it's a fence. Probably cost 200$ with labor to fix. Who cares?
A fine line it may be, but it's not the easiest line to draw.
Oh, as for the 5th wheel. Fact that you caught it with the tractor is good. But next time, don't just scoop it up. Park it and then crank your landing gear down.
I tried to lock with a trailer that was too high. Kingpin ended up skirting over my 5th wheel and came to rest on the front side and stayed. Ended up being late for my stop, but I jury rigged something together to remedy what happened. Nobody but me, and now you all, knows.Last edited: Mar 25, 2015

As a victim of a hit and run in a parking lot before with my 4 wheeler where "nobody saw anything" I have to say that's pretty ###### to let somebody get away from that. Sure my insurance covered it after the deductible and raising my rates since it was still classified an accident
Ruthless Thanks this. -
I like girls too, so I must be a lesbian?
To the o/p. I have seen many ah threads here that are one shot wonders, so I am holding out on whether this is a legit thread, or a joke. So I nary be harsh with you. But if this is all true, first of all, some fire hydrants are shut off, till needed, and the firemen open up the primary valve which sits below the surface.
Now to continue, if these things really did happen, then I have to think that in-attention, or depth perception or poor training, did you in.
Get your eyes checked, and maybe perhaps get some re-training.
now back to me.
A pack of wild lesbians?
That can be fun, oh man, that can be fun.
Glad I like girls, cuz if liking girls is bad, I want so much to be a lesbian!joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Kaybea, you said you were doing dedicated to mostly strip malls.....does that mean you were doing Dollar General or one of those Dollar accounts ? If so then that's where you went wrong. Apply to one of the starter companies and ask them to let you go out with a trainer again. Once your done with training, dont go solo ! Team with someone your company hooks you up with. You'll go to mostly DCs which are easier to deal with. You and your teammate can help each other when in sticky situations.
Chinatown, you are awesome ! Thanks for never forgetting that we all aren't perfect when we start. -
Honestly, doing dedicated can yield lots of experience for first timers to old timers. I would admit outright I would've been better off starting otr or not as dedicated; but I'm glad I chose this.
There are times when it can get kinda hairy when dealing with malls, smaller shippers (not all lots are designed for a 53 foot trailer and sleeper.), and other stuff you don't have to face as much with otr.
I don't know that I agree with doing teams...I think it depends upon the person. For me team would've been a deal-breaker and a pain in the ###. The op does need some more training and I have questions about who fired the op and where they went to school. They don't sound like a bad driver per'se, but I am in agreement with most of you. This is a case where I honestly would recommend SNI to the op.
And as for Chinatown...I think I'll stick with my rule. If I didn't see anything, I didn't see anything. If nobody saw me see anything, I didn't see anything.
