Hey folks! Been a member here for a few months, only posted one other time I do believe. Been in school now for 5 months, 1 month to go, all time on the road getting the feel of shifting and learning what to expect out there. Have pre-hires from Werner and Roehl, which is where I may lean seeing as I am a veteran and they both offer the apprenticeship GI Bill program for the extra money. Just thought I would put myself out there and once I do get my hard copy in hand and get hired on, I may start a running thread with my first year experiences. Til then, Keep On Truckin!

Schneider Bulk would be better and they offer the extra GI Bill money also. Tankers is where the money is.

You can make $60K-$65K easy in tankers and with Trimac can make $100K+ once you qualify for their "Elite Fleet" which takes 24 months.

    Schneider Bulk
    Superior Carriers
    Trimac Transportation
    Tidewater Transit
    Groendyke Transport
    SVTN
    CTL Transportation
A&R Logistics-this company waives the 1 yr. experience requirement if you drove trucks in the military. Were you an EO?

Some of these websites may have "experience required" but ignore that and apply anyway. They bend their own hiring rules for high quality applicants.

For these premium jobs you will need tanker/hazmat endorsements, passport, TWIC ID Card.

    CruisingAlong and seabeejojo Thank this.

Opted for the longer school for money reasons with the GI BIll paying for school. Also wanted the longer school to get a good feel for handling a truck.

I am keeping my options open so I'll take a look at them all. No i wasn't an EO and didn't have any licenses sadly. I was a lowly EA lol.

    UPDATE:

Just got off the phone with Roehl, set up a May 4th orientation date tentatively. Now just need to decide what kinda freight to haul to see where my orientation will be.

Always impresses me chinatown with how you tailor the suggestions to the needs of OP. Does your head hurt from all the trucking knowledge that you possess?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    UPDATE:

May 4th with Roehl is set in stone. Going for Reefer, so orientation should be in Appleton Wisconsin. Still working on other options as well, but Roehl may be the place to stay if they sign me on.
