I find this to be an interesting topic on another thread on this board:
    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...0-list-best-paying-companies-new-drivers.html

The List Of Best Paying Companies For New Drivers
I am going to post this as a separate thread from the CR England thread to make it easy for people investigating starting companies. This original posting itself will be updated as things change so you don't have to dig through pages to find updated rates. I will list TOP 20 companies and no more than that. 20 Companies should be plenty to to get started with.

The companies listed below all meet the #1 requirement, in addition other provisions are listed below.

#1 companies must take brand new CDL drivers fresh out of school and/or offer their own schooling.

#2 This list only highlights the CPM rate, feel free to discuss or investigate other issues that may concern you(i.e APU's, Hometime, accessory pay, terminal locations, AVG miles Per Week, etc.) This is just to give raw numbers of what starter companies are offering.

#3 This list will be based off basic Dry Van rates. If a company has Reefer/Tanker, etc Divisions those rates will be listed as well but the ranking will be based off of dry van rates to keep things simple and fair.

#4 Hourly, Percentage, or salary will not be included as there are too many variables involved to compare to CPM based payments.

#5 All figures are based on being a company driver only, not O/O, L/O, or IC.

This post may not be any benefit to experienced drivers as you have other options available to you.

Edit: The info directly below has been updated here:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seeing Prime's position on the board, with them in Springfield, MO makes me think about "The King"'s situation, and also my own :yes2557:

When I was coming out of CDL school, I thought well of Prime but they shot me down due to no current, documented driving record (had had just come back from living in Asia for 7 years). I know they have been discussed in this thread, I am going to go back and read those comments. Any new thoughts about Prime or any others on the list are welcome!

I have talked to driver who started that thread via pm's and he does seem very happy with. He used to be home every week before he decided to start working on recap and now home every 2 weeks or so, management seems very driver friendly as he did have some family issues that had to be dealt with and was told to take as much time as needed to get it resolved. The company itself seems very straight forward as I called a recruiter with some questions and I got the feeling that they were being straight with their answers.

I detest prime for the experience I had with them. Will admit, that it was 7 years or so ago and that they might have hanged but, I an carry a grudge for a long time!!!!

Once again, because I am apparently that special knew kind of idiot, am waiting till the last minute for taxes. See my tax lady in the A.M., and am now about halfway through. *sighs*

    Funny ....and worth considering :biggrin_255:

“Cash, check or charge?” I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.
As she fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.
“So, do you always carry your TV remote?” I asked.
“No,” she replied, ” but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.”

What a day yesterday. The first two stops were great. Got in and out in less than an hour (was 50 minutes early to second stop so I had to wait). After that, it went to poop. Third stop got there at 9am and was out of there at noon for just one pallet and 960 pounds! The last stop, a cold storage place in Vernon, were hopelessly slammed and I knew I would go past my 14 so I logged a split break and left their docks at 9pm! Long day that started at 0130. There's a reason I don't care for these multiple stop runs in LA. But at least I didn't violate my 14 this time. Headed on to the TA in Ontario. Didn't feel safe staying in the immediate LA area especially at night. I PC'ed over here, got some Taco Bell and went to bed. Day over at 11pm pdt. Will shower and get breakfast to cover my parking fee. Head over to Chino Valley for a trailer washout (just $25) and head over to Compton for a run to Wal-mart in Loveland Colorado. Look forward to going through Vegas, Provo and Salt Lake City. Haven't been that way since my Abilene days. Load is due tomorrow night before midnight. Thanks to Pete for the routing tips. Traffic didn't seem nearly as bad this time. The worst was leaving Hesperia headed to my first stop in Riverside during the overnight. Construction on I 215. Made me 20 minutes late, but no real consequence. Was afraid to leave too early as I knew I would be fighting my 14. Getaway day from Caliwoonya!

Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx on Monday resubmitted to Congress his and the White House’s highway funding plan, which this go-around is a six-year, $478 billion transportation reauthorization package that ups both the length and the price tag from last year’s more modest Grow America Act. The bill, however, retains the same name.
Chief among the bill’s highlights for the trucking industry is a measure of driver pay reform that would require drivers to be compensated for all on-duty hours not spent driving.

According to the DOT’s summary of the bill, the stipulation would require carriers to pay drivers at least the rate of federal minimum wage for things like detention time at shippers and receivers and “other similar non-driving work periods.”
