I am starting to find a balance. I don't want local, I love driving OTR. Just took some time and some talks to put a perspective on it. I think I have it under control now.

Thumbs up then. Balance and communication are pretty much all it takes it most of those situations.

Eventually maybe a few years, your significant other starts to feel like a call girl, you show up get sexed and leave cash.

Home time is overrated. I'm home every night after work 12 to 14 hours with commute. Gotta deal with too many people that want to much time.:biggrin_255: People come and go. You will find your niche. Find a lady that wants to go on road with and you will never come home (until she's pregnant). I have figured this out in my short life "people find time for you if they want to and if your not in their plans that find friends who's plans you are in.

And there are people who try to say that OTR trucking isn't a lifestyle. Yep..............that's the way it is pards. Either live it & love it, or get out of it before it eats you up.

funny thing. i just graduated school and was thinking how things would change after going over the road. this thread shows I'm not the only one feeling that way. Once I'm over the road ill just try to phone as much as possible to stay close with family and friends.

For some of us, OTR trucking has saved our marriages. Not having to spend that much time with her by having the excuse that I have to work is great. The less I see of my wife the more I like her. Still there is of course the down side that I don't get to see my daughters much at all that is truly the worst part of it.

There's companies like Roehl & Knight that still let you have a home life, You can take 7 days off, instead of just 2-3.
