Sometimes you have to get completely away from the trk, company, dispatcher and industry completely before you go insane and a couple nights while on the road isn't going to do it.You need a week off.Ray has been with kb transportation for 15 yrs the last time he took off was in 2009 to attend his moms funeral. This time hes taking a 2 week vacation starting Fri after work and we are going to Vegas, can't wait.
EZ Money Thanks this. -

I came off the road 3 months ago to help out a family member after being out for 9 straight months. Been working the ports out of Long Beach, CA. "Home" daily and I'm starting to go nuts already. Looking forward to the road again. Longest time out was 15 months. Yes, I'm single with no kids. Live out of my truck and love doing it.

Oh man, you got that right!
Several years ago, when the Power Ball was over $300 million (I think it was the first time that happened), people were frantically buying tickets. Many even said on the news, they were using either rent money or the mortgage.
The Governor went on the tv and said something like, "don't bet the farm on any lottery, your chances of winning are slim at best".
Yeah, many people later complained that they had no food for about 2 weeks, and the rents were past due. Made big headlines here at least. This was when Power Ball wasn't with too many states, years ago.
I can go to the Indian Casino in CT, and tell you what too. I see people running to the ATM machines. I go there all of maybe once, maybe twice a year, with maybe all of $150. that I set aside. When I don't win, I go home, and that ATM card or credit card stays home!!!!!!!! -
The longest I have stayed out is about 6 weeks....Burn out sets in before then for me.
Even a couple nights in a hotel will help but nothing like a few days at home.
Every so often I "spoil" myself with a nice hotel...Clean up and have a nice sit down meal will make you feel human again.
My current truck has no APU and that starts getting to me after a couple nights. -
I hear you. I treat myself to a hotel about once a month during a reset. Nothing like having a nice big bed to stretch out on and watch some hockey.

I'm starting a local job on Monday after almost 6 yrs of OTR driving. My last job was with a great company and I was home every weekend, but I'm so sick of living in a truck. I am so grateful for this opportunity to be home, in my bed, every night. People who have never lived on the road have no appreciation of how much a real bed and a bathroom can be a true luxury.
EZ Money Thanks this.
