What's up fellow citizens? Let's see how my first post on this forum go. First off, thanx for any info you guys provide and appreciate your time for replying. Two simple questions? Is becoming an
O/O really worth it? And second? It's obvious everything made by man, will break sooner or later, but what's one truck that has good reputation for not breaking that often? Thank you guys a million again. I have a good felling about all the experts on this forum.
Thinking about buying my first truck!

Some of the newer ones ( 2010's) are not the GOOD DEAL you think they are price wise
99saleen87 and Newtrucker48 Thank this. -
Find a truck 2007 older. Newer trucks are hit n miss with emissions... Also if they say it has inframe but no papers treat it as it never happened.
99saleen87 and Newtrucker48 Thank this. -
I guess my question to you is what does "worth it" mean ?
Worth what ?
The extra responsibility ?
The extra expense ?
The fact that it is your butt on the line if you fail ?
The fact That you have to ask is it worth it makes me wonder.
I guess my answer is like old saying "if you have to ask you wouldn't understand"
Being a owner /op is not just another trucking job it is a whole other world than driving the other mans truck.
There are so many things to owning verses driving the other mans that you wont know until you do it type deal.
It is not the big thing that gets most first timers its the little things that get you.
But to answer your question instead of rambling on YES IT IS WORTH IT for me any way .
Now is it worth to and for you I have no idea and no one else can answer that for you until you try it for yourself .
Then and only then will you know "is it worth it "99saleen87 Thanks this. -
I Will give you a good advice! Go to Schneider truck sales online and they still have 2006 trucks for sale with a Detroit Diesel 12.7 engine like the one on my picture. Find a Technician on the streets that can eliminate the EGR on the computer and later eliminate the EGR cooler itself being replaced by a pipe straight from the water pump and raise the old Schneider speed 62 to 80mph, 455hp to 500hp. Use mobile fleet oil for those engines and the heat will lower, miles per gallon will jump to 9.5 and you will make a lot of money.
rokue, 77fib77 and 99saleen87 Thank this. -

Thank you guys for your wise words. I think it all comes down to trying it, to find out for myself. 7/10 ownops say there's no money, that it's not worth all the headaches. And the other 3 ownops say it's really worth buying your own truck. That the money is actually pretty dam good. So I'm really gonna have to sit down and dig pretty deep, before I actually go out there and make the move. Thank you guys.

Thing to remember is do not fall for the BS that O/O's can pick and choose their loads and go where they want to and get home whenever they feel like it. Those are the reasons so many FAIL when starting out at trying to be an O/O those benefits come after you put in the time to establish yourself not right out of the gate.
99saleen87 Thanks this. -
Wise words my friend. Wise man!!FLATBED Thanks this.
