I have a cousin starting this coming Wednesday. My truck is still being fitted with a headache rack, so I'm still here and may see a couple of you guys here. Waiting on U-bolts to attach it to the frame. I'm going to give you guys some orientation tips.

    1. Day one once you're in the room for orientation make sure you have all the drinks you need (no food) because you will not be able to leave the room till your drug screens are complete. Not even to go to the restroom. The door (mens room) will be to the far left, that is where the tests will take place. Do not leave the room, even to go in there.

    2. While you wait you can start orientation yourself. Once you're in the room make sure you sit at a computer that works. You will log in and begin the orientation videos. The log in consists of username and password which will already have been programmed into the servers before you arrive.

Each username is your last name and your last four digits of you social security number.
    Example:

    Smith####

Each password is your first name plus the required number of 4's to reach eight characters.
    Example

John4444 since the name John has four letters, it requires four 4's. This part tends to trick people so I'll list a few more examples.
    David444
    Jackson4

Once your name is typed, just add the required number of fours till you reach eight characters total. All these videos must be watched till the end in order for you to be hired. Best thing to do is to start immediatly. You can have them all done before lunch if you start right away and you won't be one of those guys trying to catch up two to three days later. Also don't let the information contained in them scare you. It's a straight up Celadon orientation, they will be sitting to your left, just shake you head and say,"wow you poor ########." and finish them. Most of that nonsense won't apply to you.

    4. During this process they will be selecting random drivers for road tests, drug screens(urine) and physicals. If you have a medical card that doesn't expire this year, like me, you won't have to take a physical. I did, so I did not have to do a physical. If it expires later this year you MUST bring the DOT physical longform with you in order to not do a physical. It's going to take them awhile to finish road tests so just be patient. 70 drivers in orientation and only two trucks for tests. It may take 3 to 4 days, it is what it is.

    5. Meals. Breakfast is from 6:30am to 8:30am I think, I never made it lol. Lunch is from 11:30am to 1:30pm. I missed lunch the first day due to me being called for my drugscreen late. Dinner is from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. I could be a little off on the dinner ending time due to me seeing them shut it down early if people stop coming. All meals will be served in the cafeteria. Have your orientation badge, and tell the cashier your last name, you'll receive these three meals for free. Be sure and read the signs, only certain items are free, some require cash only.

    6. Shuttles pick up from the hotels starting at around 6:30. They shuttle you back at around 5:30pm. It'll be a lot of you so it will take many trips to get everyone moved (omg so many!!!)

    7. The videos are mostly the entire orientation process. You will see a video's on hazmat and safety on day two accompanied by a spoken presentation. On either the second or third day you will also, depending on how fast they're moving, have to sign into the user portal to sign, resign, sign some more, sign, resign, then sign again......(seriously it's a lot of #### to sign) all the documents for your online application. The login will be your last name only, birth date, and whole social security number. Logging into this day one is useless because they won't have put the microscope on your application yet. But by all means log into it at least once every hour over days two and three. They loaded all mine on the last days of day three, so I had to miss dinner to catch up.

    8. Almost forgot about the road test. You will begin by heading into the trailer area to back in between two trailers. You have 15 minutes to get it done. Get out and look if you have to. Do not under any circumstances follow too close or sit to close to another vehicle at a traffic light. Do not go through a yellow light either. You have two school zones. One before you get on the interstate, one a couple of miles after you get off. Don't pay attention to the times on the school zone times, these testers will treat them as if they're 24hours so do 25mph. Some of them will even try to trick you in to speeding up (ikr!). On the way back to the terminal you will come to a tight turn. It looks worse than it is. Most of them will not let you button hook. But it can be done without the button hook, you'll see once you're in it.

That's all I can think of for now, I'll be somewhat happy to answer any questions I haven't answered here. I'm at the Not-So-Super-8 in room 207 with a particularly interesting case of the bubble gutz. If you feel the need to compensate me for this info, I drink beer and lots of it.

    Good day gentlefolks.

Since last Wednesday. In their defense though, I still had to wait for all my employment verifications to come through, plus I had to take their load securement course. It should be done Monday or Tuesday. They're having an outside vendor do the work. Rack came off of a Lonestar I believe and the current U-bolts wouldn't fit on my W9.

Why didn't they verify all your employment prior to pulling you in for orientation? What type of truck and trailer are you using for the road test?

It is pretty crazy. They run a motor vehicle report PRIOR to bringing you there, it would make sense to also verify employment.

I was trying Mercer and they run EVERYTHING prior to even sending your application to safety to approve you. It would seem more efficient to get all of that prior to spending the money to bring someone out to orientation. That's just my 2 cents worth though...almost seems like they want seat covers and not drivers!!!!

Yes they should have. No clue why they didn't run everything prior. The road test trucks are old ProStars with ten speeds. Both were designed by Fred Flintstone so be prepared for a rough ride. The trailers are just as old 53 footers. But they ride decent.

Just keep this in mind guys, Eagle is still new at this.....ie, using Celadon for orientation and then going onto Butler for flatbed orientations. It is all a process, just hang in there, keep your cool and it will be over soon and on the road to making a better living.
Thanks Loke for the info on orientation.
