But they were at ONE TIME, taken from the wild, correct???????????
I just believe that any animal or reptile or fish that comes from a foreign county, and classified as exotic/wild, or even from this country and classified as wild, ought to stay where they are and not taken away from their natural home/breeding grounds.
We can debate that dogs and cats may not ALL have been from America, but can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that absolutely no dog/cat breed never started here?
I know I can't but I can say this much, they are more domesticated than wild or exotic animals are. Whether or not someone legally brings exotic creatures here to the states, or smuggles them, they are not native to America.
Same as circus morons taking wild tigers and taming them, then breeding them to continue the life cycle of wild/exotic animals in a circus. Like that moron that got nearly mauled to death a few years ago by one of his "tame" tigers.???????
Just my opinion, debate all you wish, I care not to continue my feelings towards exotic/wild animals, taken out of their natural habitat/country all for one's personal enjoyment.
Wanna snake? I'll bet there are plenty of snakes common to America that'll wanna curl up with you. I feel I made my point, don't like it? Too bad.
Can I bring my rats on the truck?

Animals should be left to their own devices in their own countries/areas. To some degree I even question zoos and wildlife preserves.
Oh and that idiot, you're talking about that magician guy? ...they put that tiger down, and I wasn't happy about that to say the least. There's Siegfried and Roy, and I think a newer one too...
Some folks never learn.pattyj Thanks this. -
My animals were born here.I'm talking about elephants, primates, bigcats, reptiles.sea creatures taken from where they live to be sold to zoos and circuses. If you only knew the abuse those animals at the dircus endure on a daily basis.Which is why I haven't been to a curcus in yrs.

Actually, Yes.
*ALL* domestic dogs came from the domestication of the grey wolf, native to Asia.
The various breeds all came from selective breeding for certain traits. This is why all dog breeds can mate with all dog breeds, they are genetically the same animal. Historians believe that it took mankind over *10,000* years to domesticate the grey wolf and the process actually altered the brain of the animal resulting in keeping them with the intelligence level of a 2 year old wolf pup and dependent on humans for survival. So who is to say that reptiles and other 'exotic' animals can't be domesticated as well given the time?
Same can be said for cats, except for coming from Egypt. Cats are believed to have domesticated themselves. People farmed the land, this attracted mice, cats came for the mice and got used to people. Once again, all the different 'breeds' are just the result of selective breeding by humans to produce offspring with the desired traits. Feral cats are the most destructive invasive animal in the country.
Believe it or not, many common animals, plants, and insects in the US are not native to the us.
They either hitchhiked over, were brought over by people (like cattle, which are native to Spain and Europe), or came over on their own (such as Buffalo which are believed to have crossed over from Europe during the ice age).DrtyDiesel and Vilhiem Thank this. -

The main thing with any pet that a company that allows pets is that you can show they are in good health and had all the necessary vaccinations, and ,legally registered if required by law...
I have a couple of hedgehogs which I soo love and are adorable.. however, they are dont have a wide temperature tollerace... and I dont feel they would enjoy trucking even though I would love tl have them with me...
Some accounts that we have do not allow drivers to have pets... so drivers witn pets are passed over for those loads...
