Backing into docks

    No. The only thing there is are some very faded yellow lines going up the cushions I back into. On the plus side, I did it perfectly on my first attempt last time. The only difference was there were other trucks I had to park in between. It's usually been empty when I get to our yard.

    Then if you have trouble getting backed in straight while still being centered on the door, it won't be entirely your fault. Don't let anyone tell you different.

    Really? We need paint stripes to hit a dock?

    I am guilty of doing a few pull ups. But I am kind of psycho and don't consider the back proper when the trailer is an inch or two off center.

    Docks that are wide open are not easy. One of our stops has no lines, 10 feet between docks and most the lights are broke!

    No, but it does help you make sure you're sitting perpendicular to the building.

    I don't like that either. But as long as I can see part of the door on either side I'm usually good with it.

    Use a glove. Then put those trailer tires next to it. That should get you in the ball park. Or in your case the parking lot. 👍

    For me (if there's space) the easiest system for me to think about was lining the tractor up with the dock.

    This seems common sense but too often I was concentrating on where the trailer is and not so much where I was setting up my tractor.

    If there's space to do a straight line back I'd line my truck up square with the dock and let my trailer fall into place. Then just go straight back making minor adjustments.

    Hell just went back and saw where you drive a straight truck. Oops

    Just find reference points and keep the ### end between them
