Best APU To Buy That Does It All ?

The air intake on small diesels can cause a lot of noise, not all can be cured with a muffler, also a apu that runs at a low rpm will be a lot quiter

I have had my dynasys apu since jan of 2012, it works fine for heat and cool. I have a t600 with aerodyne sleeper, have no problem cooling or heating. I do of course maintain it well.

if it needs something I have it fixed, if I had an espar and it broke , I would repair it. I just like the convience of my unit, it cuts on and off by itself, it doesn't run constantly.

I think some the issues stated on these pages are the result of a unit not working correctly or lack of maintenance.

 

keep in mind the rigmaster has a generator and a tk the only 110 you get is from an inverter and the tk costs quite a bit more

 

What's funny is some will see that as a feature, others as a disadvantage.

On a side note, today I finally managed to get off my lazy butt and get the PM done on mine. About 15 months to reach 985 hours since the last one. Now two in a row without breaking anything else or injuring myself in the process. The oil slick under the filter is a spill not a leak. I did not clean it off. I believe that film of oil is what keeps all the rust from dissolving and prevents it from falling off the frame on bumpy roads.

I was thinking about this while doing the work, a little mental math dividing the engine hours into how old it is. The TK dealer verified it was probably installed new when the truck was delivered new to the previous owner. The vin matched to circa late 2006, hanging on a 2007 T600. It had to have run roughly 3,400 hours a year prior to me getting it. Almost four times what I do. The truck being purchased in Wisconsin and all the rigdig violations appearing in the northwest I-80/90/94 corridors, they must've had it running all winter for cold weather freeze protection and battery survival. Well, that and they probably ran it a lot harder year round (more days in service) than I do. Maybe just left it on all the time if they had a fridge or something running in there.

I run less, in the Southeast mainly, and everything is shut down when I'm parked at home. The hardest use this one gets these days is when I'm in the truck running the a/c during seasons other than winter.

 

Yeah, yeah..... I'll fix it. Two weeks into next winter....

 

red foreman, I find the generator comes in handy when I want to power things like power tools or a microwave for a longer cooking episode. I also have an inverter for running the tv, etc so the apu doesn't have to run for small uses of power

 

I've not done the calculations for a year or two now, but a $5000 annual savings seems awfully high to me, a $15,000 annual savings is a fairytale.
