WHA-A-A...? You say there's horrors in tarping?!? Well, that's it then. They didn't tell me about that when I hired on with this outfit and its on the Internet, so it's gotta be true. I'm outta here.
Not.
I hate whiners and whining...except when it's me whining! 😁 -
yep I do believe I have. grossed $890 my week of training.
last week was my first on my own I grossed $1098.62. and that was with a slow Tuesday.
Cant wait to total up this Fridays totals.
I love this job....so far. We'll see how much I really like it when November rolls around, the North winds blow while trying to tarp and strap, the snow falls and the chain law lights start flashing. lol. I might have a different take by then.
I think a big part of why I believed it was whrn I was applying all the local jobs said 2 years tractor trailer experience req'd, 1 year OTR.
Wished I had known about this company because they take students right out of trucking school here.
But it is what it is. Things worked out the way they did for a reason.
Several people in my other thread were right...Werner did me a huge favor by not rehiring me.
. So glad they didnt. I would have been unhappy and not making the money I am now.
But I am very happy. Motivates to work hard too.
This weeks goal is $1300 gross.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
life is good at the new job!
finally got my sleeper truck. Freightliner Cascadia w/ 290K on the clock. Only one issue...no door for the passenger side, storage box. um wat?
10 spd manual, multiple 12v outlets. power windows but not power locks. a/c, am/fm/cd/wx radio.
weekly take home paychecks have been well over the $900 I was grossing weekly at Weiner.
no complaints really. sometimes late starts (7 am) but I am ok with that.

been very challenging with some of the places I have been to this week. some of these places are a real cluster (insert proper expletive here). But I have successfully navigated them. Had to wiggle worm back out of a few, but that was just good practice.
I didnt have any fun the last two days, but it wasn't the worst either. For some reason, we got 2 days of a drenching, soaking, rain here in Denver. I thought Monsoon season wasn't until mid July or early August. The mountains got pounded yesterday and today. 24" of snow fell up there. They actually closed I-70W from Golden on for about 4 - 5 hours, because the roads were so bad and so many accidents. Trucks were lined up for MILES waiting to chain up and get the green light to go. It was ridiculous. I saw this on I-70 heading to C-470 to go to Littleton. They weren't letting any 4-wheelers without chains go past C-470 either. If you were a 4wheeler and had no chains, they turned you around.
Lot's of tarping, rain gear, and strapping going on. I have come to the realization that it's time for new boots. my Merrell's hiking boots that are now 2 years old, have holes in the soles and the tread is all worn out and the soles are flat. So next week I am going boot shopping for something waterproof. The plant yard is nothing but a soupy, wet mess of rivers and ponds right now. wet feet are no fun!
My Roughneck waterproof gloves got their first real test the past two days. My hands stayed very warm and they were dry all day long. PERFECT! -
well i got some bummer news today. Was told by the plant manager they didn't feel like I was a good fit to stay on, didn't even get my full 90 day probationary period. Said the chemistry just wasn't meshing, so they cut me loose.
No accidents, no safety violations, never late for work, never missed a day, no late deliveries, no tickets or fines, paperwork was turned in nice, neat and on time every day, good attitude, hard working. what more does a driver have to do? back to square one. -
Get a good reference and move on.. Next
