Starting July 1st, 2015, students taking CDL Driving Tests will be sent to only ONE location (Arlington? - I'll look it up and update this later) to take the test. No longer will tests be offered at multiple locations.
Also, students will be required to show proficiency of Pre-Trip/Post-Trip Inspections.
Test Items:
Road Test
Parallel Parking
Straight-line Backing
Air Brake Test
EDIT: Every region of Texas will have one location. All folks needing to test in the DFW Area will be sent to Arlington.
Good luck!

well it's prob a GOOD thing they are going to start actually making sure someone can do a decent pre-trip. when i got mine it was written, got to testing site and the instructor that drove us there just looked at the lady and said "yeah it passed a pre-trip."
the rest seems standard issue, except for the one location thing... guess since most of the schools stopped taking outa state folks it cut down on the number of places needed...that or it's gonna be a nightmare trying to schedule your test...texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
One testing location seems like it would be nearly impossible. Especially in a state as large as Texas. And I agree that the pre-trip test is a joke.

I think that he means one location for his part of the state. Texas would need at least 8 or more locations around the state, or everyone would be driving hours to get to one. Back when I first got mine it was a hard pre-trip test. Was on everything, and if you missed an item like lugnuts on a wheel, then said you would do both sides the same, they would take the points away for every lugnut you missed.
Backing was Straight, Alley dock see side, alley dock blind side, serpentine (had to be within 16 inches of each barrel). Of course, I was in the first CDL group tested for my school, so the state of LA did not know for sure how intensive the test needed to be at that point. So they went with every option. Things have changed allot since 1991.texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
They are supposed to have like 18 examiners at this new facility that they are building. -
It's one location per area.
Example: Anyone in the DFW area that needs to test, goes to Arlington now. -
I'm glad I got my CDL test done before the changes though because I do think it's going to be a pain in the butt (especially at first!).
