Truck driver Randall Rainey posted a dash cam clip of a very scary situation that he encountred last week. As he was traveling through Laredo, Texas, at 65 miles per hours,a semi truck barreled down the road in the wrong direction, straight towards him and several other trucks.
If you want to skip to the action, the incident occurs around the 50 second mark, but the build up towards it is worth watching.
Rainey and and the other trucks were forced to dodge the wrong way semi as it zoomed down the road. Thankfully no one was injured. The video has been watched nearly 90,000 times since being uploaded on April 6th.

Never could figure out how people end up on the wrong side of the freeway LOOKING AT THE BACK OF SIGNS should be an obvious clue (unless, of course someone can't read, speak, or understand English any way). The person is definitely a bone head.
On a second note...just another reason for me to avoid running in "packs" of traffic like those trucks and bobtails. I like plenty of space around me so I have options and 'outs'.77smartin, Joetro, Giggles the Original and 2 others Thank this. -
This happening in Laredo pretty much explains why the driver could not read the signs.
semi retired semi driver, NavigatorWife and dieselfuelonly Thank this. -
Yikes. Although, it looks like a pretty far cry from 'barreling' down the hiway.
Can see it a bit between the trucks before the group of them passes it, it looks like it's crawling.
Maybe he had to swerve to avoid an accident and ended up on the wrong side of the road.
Or he took a wrong turn and went down an offramp -
It is not a limited access highway. They must have came on from a side road and thought it was a two lane highway not noticing the one-way wrong-way signs.

I've ran across more then a few intersections, where you're on a typical 2 lane road, and it intersects with a divided, 4-lane road. Where the signage as when proceeding down the 2 lane road, is minimal indicating the situation. And especially if the center median is very wide and you're just not aware of the road you're going to turn onto.
Then maybe add in dark and rain, or fog, and unfamiliarity, It's actually easy to do in some (a very few) places where they don't do an good job with signage and you're new to the area. -
theres a hwy sign right when the wrong way truck meets the guy in the left lane but i cant make it out....either way glad no one got hurt, but if you pay attn to your surroundings, i dont see how its possible esp in daylight , clear weather....

Someone commented on the comments on the article, that they thought this was 1472 Mines Rd.
We were in the Cumberland area yeas ago, and there was a car with an old lady in it on the wrong side of the highway. They finally got her stopped. A real scary situation since a lot of times it ends up with headon collisions.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
I experienced something like that on the road test when I got my first drivers license.
Guy took me back behind the DMV through a neighborhood and we came up to an intersection with a stop sign.
There was a single road on the right, 1 lane each direction, and on the left the road was 2 lanes for each direction, but it was split with a 10ft tree and grass field. There was no signs or other indication that it was a split road, it looked like a 5 street intersection. No 'keep left' or 'wrong way' or anything like that. The guy said "Turn left here". I asked "which street do you want me to go down?" and he just looked at me and said "just turn left". So I hesitated a bit, looking around trying to figure out the intersection, then cautiously turned down the first street to the left. He then asked me "Do you know what you did wrong?". My reply was "I don't know, you said turn left". Failed my driving test for going the wrong way. Went to a different DMV after that and it was much faster and easier.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
It's drivers like Mr.Wrongway that gives the industry a bad name. Then trk drivers can't figure out why the ppl perceive us as stupid steering wheel holders, even a monkey can drive truck the list goes on and on.
