I thought the FMCSA and their driver PSP score was supposed to eliminate the bad drivers from being on the road.
Instead it gives drivers that have years of experience a black eye if they have a few tickets or violations which
makes them unattractive to be hired by a lot of trucking companies. On the other hand drivers with little or no real
driving experience get hired because they have no PSP points on their record. As usual the Government bureaucracy
run by people with no experience are making things unsafe for the public at large. Just like the 14 hr rule is causing
fatigued drivers to keep driving and speeding to beat the clock. Just like the shippers and receivers that wont provide
parking on their property so a driver can take a break and get some rest even though they detain drivers because of
their poorly managed shipping and receiving departments.LoneCowboy, bzinger, drvrtech77 and 5 others Thank this. -
Some of the large carriers give you a CDL in two weeks then put you with a trainer for two weeks that jumps in the sleeper bunk after watching the trainee drive for a couple of hours. The trainer drives in the daylight while the trainee drives at night.
Potter, Nebraska 3 years ago 5 killed in two accidents both caused by foreign born drivers. The second accident killed 4 people and the driver worked for a company out of a suburb of Chicago that had something like 12 trucks so you are correct it is not always the large carriers causing the problems.Marksteven Thanks this. -
Someone said stop the name shaming... well when I stop seeing Fed Ex trucks drive like morons in stuff like this (I can remember if it's was this pileup or the other OR BOTH, where they was going way to fast) then I'll stop the name shaming & I think we all would
drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
Both I80 pilups this week Fed Ex was involved in, good youtube video floating around showing them moving quite quick as he plows into the stopped trucks followed by CR England.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
Looks to me, from pics I've seen of both wrecks, that FedEx, UPS, YRC and the other LTL's were all involved, so much for the argument that they only hire the best. Who cares, there are several CRE trucks involved, the point of it, stupidity.
As for CB's, that's a wash of an argument, I haven't had a working CB in my truck in 5 yrs, have there been times it would be useful, perhaps, but it's just as annoying.
FWIW, last Thursday, I delivered in Gypsum, CO., and was heading back to Denver, what should have been a 3 hr drive, took almost 5 hrs because of trucks and 4 wheelers going too #### fast for condition, this only 12 hrs after the storm hit. Multiple wrecks, multiple shutdowns of 70 W. of Denver. Chain law was up, chain law was down, didn't matter, pure stupidity, I didn't chain up, but instead I kept my speed down, and kept my eyes open.
Will Wyoming do something, probably, perhaps it will be the end of the 80 mph limit. -
If you watch all the pics and all the videos, FEDEX was involved, so was Knight, UPS, UPSF, YRC, SWIFT, Werner and bunch of small Mom and Pops, who cares, stupidity was the cause, has nothing to do with the company name.drvrtech77 Thanks this.

Actually, it does in a way. It has a lot to do with lack of training and lack of common sense.

There has been an arrest made in this crash

I don't recall seeing Knight in there but on the other hand I would not be surprised. And I do Agree stupidity is stupidity.
