I guess the new drivers are not as good as the old timers shifting!

I'm sure you still stop for a pay phone too because using a cell phone would be to easy right..lol and I'll bet in the summer you just roll down the window cause that new fangled A/C or apu is for wimps..lol

    Doe's using a stick pay more ?

Now don't get me wrong I ain't trying to get yer panties in a bunch, but this old timer crap is getting a bit old..

Now if you wanna say you have more control over the load with a manuel, ok
but, I don't think driving an auto makes anyone less of a logistics specialist..anymore than using a GPS or google earth makes you less of a driver than using a rand mcnally.. just sayin..:biggrin_25514:

I've only driven the Eaton 10 speed AMT and my verdict is I'll hang on to the stick as long as I can. It's a nice idea, but lacking in execution.

Never driven one Dont plan to. Not against driving one. I think I would prefer one in the city about quitting time. I drive in alot of ice and snow and do get stuck on occasion I think I would miss having control of the truck

There is a hell of a difference to the engine music of a manual transmission and an auto. The engine sings like sirens used to sing to sailors. You get to know the engine, the difference between 1500 and 1525 or 1550. Your foot becomes one with the engine and you feel the energy transfer into your being.

Then you have an auto tranny. You get a little duck paddle you push up and down because even the designers of the transmissions realize auto trannies make mistakes regularly. You give a little throttle to back into a tight hole and your choice is either not moving, lurching backwards faster than you need to or riding the brake to slow down enough to get into the hole.

To each their own I guess.

but the poster that you replied to has "wannabe" listed as his experience level and is certainly able to draw realistic conclusions regarding the use of either so his opinion actually has merit from his perspective-

i agree which is why they are considered new drivers. they are not as good as an old timer even if their trainer told them differently yet in the new breed's mind, they are all that.

hey man.i am cool as i impede traffic while driving with my flip flopped foot up on the dash and my auto truck taking the guess work out of all scenarios which in turn gives me more time to adjust the ear buds dangling from my lobes-
