Read the Hot Shot threads. Maybe 50 pages. Search the internet there a couple of other sites full of information. This site has some owner operators talking about everything from maintance to rate negotiation, they may in a van or flatbed but the concepts are the same. Try to find someone in your area doing this type of work that will teach you. Don't just go out and buy a truck and trailer and ask what do I do now. Hope this helps. Miked o g Thanks this.

That's something I've wanted to do. I've looked at freightfinder.com and uship. With uship, you won't make much more than gas going from a to b. if you pick up 2 or 3 loads near a, and charge 2 or 3 customers for the same trip, then you can make money. Good luck.

UShip is a joke and loaded with illegal carriers.
I'd think twice about using that Ford for that type of work, do some research before you buy.
Better price insurance first before you do anything. -
Uship is a complete joke. You need to know you can find work first. Also, get ready to pay insurance. I pay $1500 a month for my $1,000,000.00 liability, $1,000,000.00 umbrella liability, commercial auto policy and my workmans comp is a separate policy. Good business if you can stay busy.

I would go on Craigslist under jobs transport and try to lease on with a company looking for hotshot with the equipment you have.

Is there a difference between Hot shot loads to driving an actual flatbed 18 wheeler law and driving hours?
-
Nope. Laws apply same-same.
truckon Thanks this. -
Read. Read. Read. Do your homework. I have 40' trailer for sale if interested.
