40 bucks to tarp..i owe my soul to the company store

    what gives with these flatbed companies and the 10-50 bucks to secure/tarp/unsecure/untarp..
    you make more with min wage..

    The fee for tarping hasnt gone up in 15 years!! WE should all refuse to tarp untill they pay more!!:biggrin_2556:

    How do you figure? If you're getting $40 to tarp the load, it would have to take you 5.5 hours of tarping time before you're only making the minimum wage. You ought to be able to get it done in half that time.

    If you are paid a fair wage the accessorial pay shouldn't be an issue. If you are NOT being paid a fair wage; you should move on. At any rate..........40 bucks to tarp an "average" load figures 20 bucks an hour; maybe a shade more. Not bad enough to come on here and whine about it, IMO.

    It's part of the job, you don't like it move on. Plain and simple. If enough people don't like and move on then more compensation may come about (supply and demand). But for now be happy to be working and putting food on the table.

    It generally takes me 1.5 hours to load, secure, and tarp a steel coil load. That works out to what....better than $25/hour? Yeah, that minimum wage I get sure sucks.....
