I've been pondering this question for a bit, and tried to see if I can search an answer to this question, but for companies for new drivers that want to get in the industry do they (like earl Henderson trucking, prime, etc) have fuel cards for drivers? I'm sure it can be really costly to fuel up a diesel truck and just wanted to know is all the money drivers earn for their check just straight into fuel or do companies offer some sort of card?

all companies issue the driver a fuel card. the company will tell the driver(mega carriers{swift, sni, werner, england}) wer to fuel and how much to put on.
the smaller companies still issue the driver a fuel card but it is up to driver were to fuel and how much they need. company will tell the drive rthere PREFERED fuel stop. ie pilot/flying J, Petro/TA, Loves

Celadon uses comdata as well. It has your picture and driver id number on one side, and the magnetic stripe on the other. No company driver at any company pays for his own fuel. Lease operators and owner operators almost always pay for their own fuel.

Here's a quick run down of how it works at celadon:

    1. Operations sends you a dispatch.
    2. You accept the dispatch (most large companies are forced dispatch, meaning refusing a load is grounds for termination).
    3. You are either dispatched immediately, or upon sending an empty macro if you are under a load.
    4. The routing information, including fuel stops, should be in the next message.

I am coming to this thread a bit late, but I think more information about fuel cards is available. For most all company drivers their fuel card is their financial tie to the company. There are lots of drivers that get paid through their fuel cards, my last six months driving I did. I could call the number on the back and put any amount in my bank. You can also get advances through the fuel card. Its not just a fuel card.
