OK let me try to explain two pressure switches behind break valve in dash. One is for brake lights and the other for cruise control. What if those wires get connected backwards what happens. I think k that is what happened at the t/a when the guy was fixing air leak. Now the pressure switch for brakes is leaking. Could he have hooked all the wires wrong thanks in advanceo

If either of them is leaking, it means he cracked it. Replace the leaking one and I bet your cruise starts working.
Next question, for God's sake, why would you let an idiot ta technician do this? Those guys can't grease a truck properly, let alone work on one.flood Thanks this. -
you can't cross wires. they are all built into plugs that are usually different shapes and sizes. only one place for them plugs to go.
damage wires maybe.
as for idiots. not all are that way. and since they work on that sort of crap all day long. they more then likely know what they are doing. specially since some of them have licenses in classes they took. hanging on the walls. sometimes. -
Make sure the valves are the correct ones! They look alike. If you buy the wrong one, the air leak is fixed but something won't work like your cruise control. Look at the number at the bottom of the valve from the old one and compare with new one. What I do is that I found a socket that fits right on it and I used a long socket extension and it comes out right away. Some guys use the wrong tools and damage the porcelain on the valve. Watch your water on the air tanks as moisture gets through all those valves and rust the valves, that's when you get the leaks.

Yes cause that afternoon tire class a tech took teaches him so much about working behind the dash of a freightliner.
As for working on"that sort of crap all day long". They work 8 hours a day or so yes. But not on the same make of trucks let alone the same things. One truck it's changing a tail light, the next it's doing an oil change, a few tires, maybe a brake job. Chances are half the techs at your typical truck stop garage have been under the dash of your model truck maybe one in the last year. And considering the pay at truck stops is substantially Less than what they could get at a regular shop or dealer, which again is substantially less than they would get in the garage of a construction company, what quality of mechanics are truck stops getting? Just like the mega carriers with the lowest driver pay get the lowest quality drivers, the lowest pay shops get the lowest quality mechanics. Hell, they can't even say they are mechanics, they are technicians. -
I trust the t/a mechanics over the mechanics in my companies shop.

I find T/A / Petro mechanics to be a real crap shoot. A few good ones mixed in with really poor mechanics. I avoid them except for Co trailers.

could be a bad wire going to the ECM
brake lights will work just fine but the ECM thinks you have your foot on the brake so the ECM will not let the CC work
had it happen..... it was a rusted pin on the plug going to the ECM -
Thats my point lol. And who cares if cruise doesnt work. Dont and have never used it.
