It seems like Illinios does have some common sense! Length limits for oversize not requiring state police escort has been changed. The rule was anything over 175' had to have the cops, now they have changed to over 200'.
There are a lot of loads that travel out of Illinios that have been required to have the police escort that are between 175' and 195' long. By changing this rule, loads will be moving more efficiently, not having to wait sometimes several days for the state police to escort.
Illinios changes heavy haul limits...

yes it is easier to run with out the cops. Just makes us escorts do our job. But there are times a cop around is handy. People seem to act right and drive right when they see the blue lights..Also they don't tell us that we are #1. They just drive by and go about their business.

Synicaly speaking, I'm thinkin' that Illinois made that change so as to free up the troopers for more revenue......er, I mean safety enforcement of the general motoring public.
Just a guess..... -
Well the thought that the state would change something so that they could make more money........HMMMMMM! A thought would you believe. Also the that the state and feds are looking at a lot of State office holders and appointments. They might need the officers for that too!! you never know. It could go from the top down.

I would also guess that the drop in revenue may have been a factor in the decision. Most of the loads that originate in Illinios that required the cops were wind towers coming out of district 6, sometimes had to wait a day or more for the officers to show up. Now they can get back to doing what they were supposed to be doing.
