Flashers or no Flashers?

Strobes on an oversize are legal. 4-ways on a slow moving semi are not:

It would be a pretty ########### ticket, but it is what it is...

 

IMHO, YOU are the "Professional" driver in this equation, so use YOUR professional judgment and alert your fellow motorists, including the "non-Professional" variety that YOU are a "HAZARD" due to significantly reduced speeds by turning on your HAZARD lights.
If you do get pulled over by a LEO, don't be a d!ck, be a PRO, state your point clearly and if they decide to write a citation, smile and take it, like a PRO. Show up in court and state your point and case PROfessionally and you will probably win, safety virtually always wins...

 

I would be happy to appear in court with a citation for this, I'd be willing to bet that I would win.

i, use 'em.....i'm letting whats behind behind me, since they probably cant see ahead of me, either i'm a hazard, there's a hazard ahead....doing my part to keep thangz safe, courteous, etc.......unfortunately i've been guilty of leavin' 'em on to long........

 

I agree, but I do think they are overused.

When the truck speed is 35mph down the grapevine and you're going 30-40mph, I don't think you should be using hazards. When I'm going 15mph, I should be. When both of us use our hazards, mine lose their effectiveness...

 

If someone plows into the back end of you, then it WILL be an emergency. My s.o.p. is to use my flashers anytime I'm going 15 under the speed limit on an interstate or major roadway. That includes getting on from a ramp while heavy and taking a long time to get up to speed.

Anytime you are considerably slower than the speed limit or the flow of traffic, you are a hazard, and should be warning those behind you.

 

My personal opinion with no law to back me up is that hazards will draw the eye...allowing you to be seen in plenty of time. So using that theory when I'm slow moving for any reason they are going on. If I'm be overly cautious....so be it.

 

If drivers can't see you're freaking brake lights flashers aren't going to make a difference.

I can't stand idiots driving with their flashers on in bumper to bumper traffic... Turn the ####ing things off
