Serious question..

I could really care less about how long it takes to do the stuff. It's like 30-40 minutes total length max for something I have to do once a quarter and of that whole time I spend probably a total of 5 minutes actually paying attention and clicking the next arrow and answering the question. It's not a test, you don't get graded, click through the crap and click some more and then you're done. I have it in a background window or on my little laptop and watch Netflix or play a game or whatever on my desktop LOL.

The thing that DOES frustrate me about it is why this stupid crap is all written in some ancient version of Java that requires super-specific settings and refuses to work on any modern (i.e. not Windows XP with Internet Explorer 7) computer and why SNI refuses to update it to keep up with the times.

Usually my little laptop can do the CBTs to completion without an issue and I don't even have to send in a screenshot. I have to use IE and played with the Java settings over a year ago and did SOMETHING _just_ right to make it work. I can't remember what but I don't touch it and usually it works. But this time around, it wouldn't show completion. Neither my desktop or my big laptop will even load the CBT at all. I have tried IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Java 7, Java 8, etc., etc., etc., 90% of it it just won't work on. Pathetic.

So I took a screenshot and I'll email it to my ICA and ICR.

It's stupid, and SNI will try to blame my settings or my computers or this and that. But when I'm surrounded by 2 laptops and a desktop that I just did a fresh OS install on and updated everything on, and this crap won't load right on ANY of them, it's obviously not my ****ing problem when the entire ****ing company can't get it to work 95% of the ****ing time on their personal computers.

THAT is the part that makes me mad. Take some responsibility and fix the ****ing problem instead of telling me I have to go through an OC. Since I am a vampire, using one of the OC computers is near impossible because when I show up at the OCs in the morning, the room is completely full of students doing their online training. My thing with the CBTs is I will not lose any sleep over trying to get them done and will get them done when I can get them done.

 

Easy money for me. It will pay for that steak in Carlisle.

 

Anyone have trouble veiwing this 2nd quarter training video!? I know it is due today but the video will not play on my laptop. Very frustrating

 

They might be using VB script for those. It's a language Microsoft cooked Up and should only have been used on corperate intranet where all of the computers were running Internet explorer. Sometimes it would spill out on the internet and cause problems for people that weren't using internet explorer.

VB script is nasty and I think IE settings are set to disable it by default nowadays. might want to try enabling it only for that site and see it it helps.

Open up the webpage in IE then go to Tools > Internet Options, then select the Security tab. There should be a box that has a "Trusted Sites" selection. select that and then the "sites" button will let you add that site to the trusted sites. It will probably throw an error if the connection isn't encrypted (https) but there is a checkbox that will disable that requirement.

The security for trusted sites is more liberal so maybe just adding the site to the trusted sites might be enough to get it working. There is also a "custom level" button to allow for more options on what to allow, you might need to enable some of them through trial and error. I'm a bit rusty but i think VB script would fall under "Active scripting" in the settings... ActiveX scripting is also another posibility... Good luck!

 

I'm in the same boat as you regarding hazmat. I still get recertified even though I don't have the endoresement. I do remember them warning us about some questions dot could ask us about hazmat that falls under General knowledge that could cause us grief if we didn't know.
