Mattock, Don't let this experiance drive you out of the industry. You just haven't found the right company yet, look as an an investment to your future and family. You are one of the select few who actually speak up about what is happening on the road. Some trainers are out just for the money and can care less about you when they are off the truck. I still keep in contact with my students not as much as I would like to and very few trainers do that, so don't give up.

yeah this experience is a bad one and not typical of most trainers at better companies. used to see many good things about this company but can't say I've heard much good about them in the last year or so though.
even though I'm not with my training company anymore and moved on to something better, the students I trained there still call me even though I've been gone from there for a year now. just spoke to one of them today. i'm still available at any hour of the day to any of my former students. a good trainer is a teacher, not someone looking for additional income from your logbook.
find a company that does NOT do team training and states that from the outset. my former company paid close attention to the logs and any trainer tuck that exceeded the weekly miles on average that a top performing solo would do wasn't allowed to train anymore as it was apparent what was going on. don't let this bad experience taint your outlook on the industry as a whole. there are a few good companies out here you just have to do the homework to find them. -
Sounds like OP is hit and run. While I'm not surprised if a lot of this did happen there are some alarming things I read that make me think perhaps there is more to the story.
The OP needs a week to transition from day to night driving?
The OP expects to be reimbursed for jumping on a plane and going home?
Lots of bad trainers out there for sure but you gave up too easily IMO. Yeah maybe trucking isn't for you. -
Most of the megas have a policy to allow the trainee to drive any time he request and is more comfortable. My trainer tried to pull the same thing with me,but after i asked him about that,he allowed me to get the day shift.
