If it isn't one thing its something else ... Dry van boo hoo I can't make any money ... Reefer boo hoo I can't get my beauty sleep .. Flatbed and tank I have to use tarps chains straps hook up hoses and wait around ... The truck stop stinks, I hate my dispatcher, I never get to go "home", my truck is governed too slow, I don't like running the north east, I can never find parking, the dot man always gets me, shippers and receivers keep me sitting around hours on end, if not them then dispatch leaves me in purgatory over the weekend ...
Reefer noise, really?????

There are pros to reefer depending on the company. I work for the reefer fleet and we get some perks that the dry van side doesn't
- Pete 579's instead of Prostars
- $100 a day when we are without a load (rarely happens but it's nice when you get stuck waiting for a load that gets you home.)
- They will set you up with a dry van load if there isn't a reefer load nearby.( Dry van OTOH cant get set up with a reefer load so they just sit)
- Longer trips make racking up the miles easier
You will still still get some crazy situations. The meat dock for Conagra in Newport,TN is just nuts. Blind side offset while backing down a 12% grade across a lane of traffic. Yeah, most are pretty easy and I love it when i see a p/u or drop at Tyson since thats always a drop and hook. -

I hauled reefer months, 3 or 4 stops to get loaded then 1, 2, 3 stops to get unloaded, hated every minute , the ripoff of the lumping, hot produce from the field that would be rejected, going to the food bank, ALL of reefer SUCKED!

i wouldn't know how to sleep without a diesel running
my first boat was a Stonington dragger the only bunks were
on either side of the engine
A WW2 vintage grey marine 671 leaked more oil then it used
I suppose my engine room was a hazardous dump site
I wonder how the air quality was
FLATBED Thanks this. -
Generally there will be more stress involved in hauling reefer freight. You have to constantly be aware of the temperature of your load. Additionally, if you are late for a delivery appointment you are more likely to face claims/late fees with reefer freight.
