Where on Land Street? Is it a dropyard or a business? Good to know in case I get hired by them. Can you leave personal vehicle there while you're away? Also, do they charge money to park?

I start at CT on the 26th. A little older than most but in good physical shape. Better than some youngen's. I read where one man was sent home for what he said was his neck size. But believed it was due to his age. I see that some trainers are in there 60's.(not there yet). From what I've read the physical and agility test don't seem that bad. I'm retired military and have been working construction so I hope that will help. I can't really find any info on the trucks and if when at home you can uncouple trailer to wash truck. Any updated info on test or any other in-site would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill

Bill,if you'll read the entire thread you'll see how I faired as a 55 year-old slim guy. You'll handle the tests just fine.

I personally don't believe CT would have sent someone home for age, unless they obviously were just not able to physically perform the tests. The doctor at the orientation makes the decision whether someone is likely to have sleep apnea and to deny that person a DOT medical card. That person can then pay for a sleep study and return to CT if cleared by the sleep doctor.

The company advises that you should not uncouple at home. If you have a secure place to store the trailer, then it may not be an issue. However, if you uncouple and the trailer is stolen, you'll be in deep trouble. FYI, I met a driver this past week who said he'd never washed his truck in the 4 years he's been driving for CT. I didn't see his truck, but I imagine it had a lot of grime on it that's not washed off by rain.

    Good luck and safe driving.

Thanks very much. I did read your posts and found them very helpful. Like you said there isn't much out there on CT. I have been hearing that the cleaner your truck both inside and out is a way DOT could decide to do a inspection or let you go thru. Also that flatbeds are looked at closer than vans. Got some info from school but they say I'll learn the most from the trainer/company. I'm in SE N.C. and believe will be out of Mocksville. I seen where you drive it seems like it is mainly along the 95 cord. At orientation do you run the Int. or Macks. Can't wait to get started and hope to meet up some day. Stay safe out there. Snows I will be finishing school in a couple weeks and I will be out of the Mocksville terminal. Are you still getting good mileage with them I hear there is a slow season for freight how did you do during that time?

The recruiter that came to my school said that most of the fleet are Macks but all I ever see are the Internationals. I think it may be that the Mack are the day cabs and the Internationals are the sleepers. Is that correct Snows?

    Hey xDPx,

I'm out of the mocksville terminal, i drive an international. there are a lot of macks too. the macks drive better but the internationals have a better interior both are sleeper trucks.

Hey everyone, hope all is well. i just wanted to give an update on my situation over at CT.

so, I don't want to discourage anyone but I dislike this company very much. don't get me wrong they are not the worst company out there but they are definitely not the best. i will be leaving them the first week in july, i'm only waiting that long because i can't really go anywhere else or really get insured with less than 6 months experience.

don't beleive what anyone at the company tells you. from the recruiter that comes to your school, to the people who paint the "perfect picture" at orientation down to the dispatchers. why they lie is beyond me since you will see the truth as soon as you get out there on the road but they do. now with that said, from talking to drivers at other companies, this happens everywhere. I guess it's the trucking industry.

with all that being said, if you're fresh out of school, ct might be ok for you. the plus side of things is they did take me right out of school and i have learned a lot. my trainer was really good and still helps me to this day if i call him. the biggest plus is the "per diem", with this you will probably make the most money out of school at CT. just be prepared to take a lot of crap. just keep in mind you need that 6 months. after that skies the limit out there

tpalmer08 I start orientation on Tuesday. And will be assigned to Mocksville. What is the main runs for the terminal? Did you get to pick the truck or do they just assign it or do they mainly run the International's. I was told the Mack's were for local only. But did see that Comcar bought 500. New Mack's

hey what's up, you could end up with either one. i started with a mack, then got an international. actually have had 3 of them now because they are crap lol. by buddy started in a mack and is still in one. the macks are cool but the inside stinks because there is no APU so you have to idle at night. also they need DEF and you can't get it at the pump so you have to get it at the terminal or pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. they are just going to assign you one but you can let them know you want one or the other and they will try to get you that one when available.

as far as runs, it's pretty random. you can end up in florida or end up in NY/NJ. I end up in NJ way more that I'd like to be honest. It stinks going through all that traffic. not to mention you have to go through DC traffic to get there.

    ROMAD Thanks this.
