Correct me if I am wrong but most truck stops don't make most of their money off of fuel purchases when compared to the markup on items ($8 for a bottle of Irish Spring body wash vs $3 at Walmart for example).

So I fail to see how kicking out potential customers benefits anyone.

Nothing screams America like exclusion and discrimination.

I am ok with whatever any truck stop whats to do for business, I was just curious if anyone has been there.

But now that I have had time to check into it, the trucker path app rips it pretty good.

I also like the idea of a O/O truck stop. Cheap/er fuel etc..

The big outfits are trying to put the little guys out of business so its nice to see a truck stop catering to the independent.

But it looks like this isnt the place it was cracked up to be.

Now watch the Laramie truck stops drop their diesel price to about 25 cents lower than this place for about 6 months. Then you can read how it is once again blowing in the wind.

Truck stop should cater to drivers regardless of who owns the truck.

A big chain moving in doesn't automatically mean the independent next door will die if you offer something special.

Look at the AC&T in Hagerstown, MD. Pilot moved in next door and it hasn't made a dent in their business. One of the best diners on the east coast. Drivers park at the Pilot and walk across the street to eat there.

I never park at the Pilot, I always park at the AC&T. One of the few places I look forward to doing a 34 at.

Absolutely correct about AC&T PackRat. They are the perfect example of what the smaller truck stops need to do to beat the chain truck stops. [IMG]

Whenever we're going that way, we'll make a point of stopping there for the food. Their diner is ####ing awesome ! [IMG]

Drove by there a few hours ago. 2 trucks parked in the lot and nobody in the fuel pumps. Looked like it might be a nice quiet place to stay.

I would also point out the Tennessean Truck Stop at I-65 x22 in Cornersville TN as another fine example of an independent more than holding their own against a Pilot at the same exit. It's hard to beat the 2 for $5 BBQ sandwiches (although last time I stopped, I believe they've gone up to 2 for $5.50. Still a bargain though).
