    Hi all

I'm running carrier MC# since 2010. I'm driving as O/O under that, and I have dispatch stuff, they work from home.
Now I'm considering to get broker MC# and my question is, how to calculate pay to my agents ?
Or how independent broker agents get paid ?

    Thanks

Some agents working with large CO. make 8% of gross others like to cut the rate that shipper is paying them, then keep what they cut for them/selves?

If others are agents, they can not keep all of these cuts. What split between agent and authority owner?

If they are doing most of the paper work inc. all billing 5 thru 8% has been their part, if they bring cust. that will give you loads you may have to sign a form that protects them from (back door) their cust. also to protect the cust. you have from them taking em. for a stated time on contract you will have to agree on?

I've heard anywhere from 20% to 50% of the profit for the load moved.

    Example
load pays $1200 to the brokerage company
employee finds a carrier willing to move the load for $1000
    profit = $200
    .2 to .5 of 200 = $40 to $100

anywhere in that range. Also there may be terms where as to what happens if a shipper does not pay a bill, as to who eats that cost.

My company pays 45-65% of the gross profit based off of bi-weekly profits of that agent.
    Under $2000 45%
    2000-3999 50%
    4000-5999 55%
    6000-6999 60%
    7000+ 65%

The group I'll be training with runs 40% of the margin on their shippers 60% of the margin on the shippers I source.

If that's the % paid to an agent how do they get anyone to work? No problem to get 65-70%

The place I work takes on new agents with no book of business. Most of the agents once they reach the $8000-10000 profit per month goal move on. I have spoken with the owner about upping the % to keep the better producing agents, but he says he is focused on helping people get started.
